this year Minnesota Vikings Jerseys Stitched , the Minnesota Vikings’ organization was rocked by the death of offensive line coach Tony Sparano. Sparano, a long-time coach that was entering his second year with the Vikings after numerous other stops, died of heart failure at his home the week before camp was supposed to get underway.Sunday would have been Coach Sparano’s 57th birthday, and the team was well aware of it. According to this story by Lindsey Young on the Vikings’ main website, the team wanted to go out on the field in Philadelphia and get a win for their late coach.I had seen a couple of things on social media leading up to the start of today’s game about Sparano’s birthday being today, and I’m glad that the guys that he was closest to on the team, the offensive line Armon Watts Jersey nfl draft , played a pretty vital role in making a victory happen today. Even with Riley Reiff going out early in the second quarter with a foot injury, the offensive line held up fairly well. That includes Hill, who shifted over to left tackle in Reiff’s absence, and rookie Brian O’Neill, who once again looked solid at the right tackle spot. The Vikings wanted to go out on Sunday and get a victory for their late coach, and that’s exactly what they did. Hopefully, with any luck Custom Armon Watts Jersey , this will be the start of a significant turnaround for the Vikings for the rest of a 2018 season in which they’re honoring Sparano with a sticker on their helmets. There may have or may have not been fans worried about the Vikings potential vacant offensive coordinator position that was looming.I’ll be honest and say I was one who was worried about the issue. However, I can say now that I’m happy with the end result. Kevin Stefanski’s interim tag is removed and he’s now the fourth O.C. since head coach Mike Zimmer has taken the helms, and thankfully there won’t be a fifth... Yet. I get that it’s tough to hold onto assistants and coordinators who thrive in the given position, but a team needs consistency, a team needs structure. It’s hard to have consistency and build structure when a team is just cycling through coaches like a hamster on its little wheel. Not to mention new coaches who like to change schemes up that result in a lot of new learning. Things were clicking when Pat Shurmur was calling the shots on offense. Unfortunately for Minnesota, Shurmur was offered the head coaching position with the New York Giants. Shurmur’s predecessor Norv Turner was the OC since Zimmer became the head coach in 2014. It was about halfway through the season in 2016 when Turner stepped down after the team started the year 5-2. Stefanski will now be in the same shoes Shurmur was. We all know what happened that next year when Shurmur got a whole season to showcase his talents as an OC. Only an optimistic Vikings fan would say it could happen again. Yeah, I’m that guy. Also Discount Armon Watts Jersey , if Stefanski does have a successful season next year, then that may be a hint that the Vikings should just continue to promote within the organization instead of hiring outside parties. An idea all teams should look at doing more of. It’s also a reason to think ahead past the 2019 season. Let’s say Stefanski does a solid job at OC and ends up getting a head coaching job. The Vikings should hire within, and maybe that’s why former Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin is in the mix as a potential offensive line coach for Minnesota. The Vikings need to create a formula that results in consistency. Not grabbing the best person on the market and think he’s going to get the job done, like John DeFilippo. I’ll be honest I thought he was the man who could continue the high-octane offense that everyone saw when Shurmur was OC. Hopefully Stefanski can just pick up where Shurmur left off two years ago. Let’s say the 2018 season didn’t really happen, deal? Let’s call it the ‘transition’ year, and hope it was really a ‘transition’ year.

That doesn’t mean the coaching staff isn’t leaning one way or the other.According to Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald, head coach Brian Flores said that 36-year old veteran signal caller Ryan Fitzpatrick will “probably start” in Miami’s third preseason game. The third week of the preseason is often seen as a showcase for what the starting lineup will look like Week 1 of the regular season, though as next week’s contest is still an exhibition game, nothing is set in stone. “The third game, you want it to be a dress rehearsal for what game No. 1’s going to look like,” Flores explained just a couple of weeks ago.Over the past two preseason games, Josh Rosen has looked like the more capable quarterback when compared to Fitzpatrick, though not by a strong margin. In Friday’s preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Rosen completed 10 of 18 passes for 102 yards Kiko Alonso Jersey , no scores, and no picks. Fitzpatrick, on the other hand completed a measly 3 of 9 attempts for 20 yards, no scores, and no picks. In the team’s first preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons, Rosen connected on 13 of 20 passes for 191 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception, while Fitzpatrick completed 2 of 5 attempts for 20 yards, no touchdowns, and no interceptions.Though neither QB has thrown a touchdown pass yet this preseason, Rosen’s drives have routinely led to field goals or rushing scores, while Fitzpatrick has yet to lead the offense to much production. To be fair Matt Haack Jersey , Rosen has had far more field time, but Miami’s offense has had more spark and has seemed far more explosive with Rosen at the helm. However, despite his healthier stat lines, Rosen has had a few egregious throws and head-scratching mental errors that a veteran like Fitzpatrick is less likely to make. It’s certainly not helping either quarterback that the offensive line has allowed a barrage of defenders to routinely pummel whoever is under center. It’s also important to remember that Flores can certainly change his mind before Thursday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but as of now, it appears Fitzpatrick, who started out training camp practices on a hot streak before cooling down over the past month or so, is still in the driver’s seat and in line to start come Week 1 of the regular season. Rosen will have to wow the coaching staff over the next two weeks to usurp that position.Want more Miami Dolphins news, updates, and analysis? Follow Justin Hier on Twitter @HierJustin.

Hingle-USA TODAY SportsThe Los Angeles Rams are going to the Superbowl after exacting regular season revenge and defeating the New Orleans Saints in the NFC Championship game. A thrilling overtime game, the Rams beat New Orleans with timely defense, a lucky no-call, and just enough offense lead by QB Jared Goff. In the 26-23 OT thriller, the Saints put up a heck of an effort to try and get to the Super Bowl and in the end fell just short.Although it’s hard to imagine the Saints not being contenders with QB Drew Brees and the core of Michael Thomas, Marshon Lattimore, Alvin Kamara Michael Brockers Jersey , and so on, nothing is a given in the NFL.QB Drew BreesBrees had a solid game for the Saints until the last time he touched the ball in overtime. For the game, Brees completed 26/40 passes for 249 yards, two touchdowns, and the crucial interception that set up K Greg Zuerlein’s 57-yard field goal. Overall, he finished with a QB rating of 60.1 in the game.LB Demario DavisDavis was all over the field for the Saints. He had 14 total tackles including 1.5 tackles-for-loss. In addition, he was the beneficiary of an interception off a deflection from Rams RB Todd Gurley early in the game.WR Michael ThomasThe Rams did a much better job in containing WR Thomas. He was limited to seven targets, four receptions, and 36 yards. The Rams gave him multiple looks including zone http://www.theramslockerroom.com/authentic-joe-namath-jersey , man with a lurking LB/S, press man, and off man. In the end, Thomas was contained and the return of CB Aqib Talib definitely helped.CB Marshon LattimoreLattimore was relatively busy for the defense with six total tackles. He and the rest of the secondary had their hands full as the Rams passed for over 300 yards. It’s never a good sign to have all the cornerbacks being in the upper half of the tackle leaders for a defense as that’s usually a sign of bigger plays. Lattimore (six), P.J. Williams (eight), and Eli Apple (four) all had a pretty high number of tackles.RBs Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram (bonus)The Rams defense again flexed their run-stuffing muscles limiting the Saints to only 48 yards rushing for the game. Ingram lead the Saints with 31 yards on nine carries while Kamara only rushed for 15 yards on eight carries. That being said, Kamara was the best receiver for the Saints with 96 yards receiving (with 11 receptions). In the end, the Rams did just enough to limit Kamara as a receiver and was able to make New Orleans more one dimensional than they would have liked to be. eo game with his dad to being on the cover.Electronic Arts announced Thursday that the Kansas City quarterback and reigning NFL MVP will grace the cover of “Madden NFL 20” when it is released Aug. 2. The announcement was made before the first round of the NFL draft.“It is awesome and definitely a full circle moment for me Womens Armani Watts Jersey ,” Mahomes said during an interview with The Associated Press before the cover was revealed. In his first season as the Chiefs’ starting QB, Mahomes threw for 5,097 yards and 50 touchdowns during the regular season and led them to the AFC championship game for the first time since 1993. He began last season with an overall Madden rating of 77 but finished the season with a 94.Mahomes said he was approached by Electronic Arts prior to the Pro Bowl in late January about appearing on the cover. He also has given a lot of input on the development of the Face of the Franchise: QB1 feature that will be in this year’s game. The feature allows players to create their own quarterback to play through the College Football Playoff, NFL combine, draft and career with a team.<noscript></noscript> This image provided by EA Sports shows the cover of the Madden 20 video game, featuring Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, which will be released in August. (Photo courtesy of EA Sports via AP)AP“It has been great to be able to discuss my experiences going through everything, especially the draft process, and to see how that will develop in the game Dorian O'Daniel Jersey ,” Mahomes said.Mahomes, who is an avid video game player, said games like Madden have become more realistic and that the same concept of reading a playbook applies to learning football.Players have appeared on the Madden cover since 1999. Mahomes is the eighth quarterback to be featured on the Madden cover and the second in the past three years. New England‘s Tom Brady was on the cover two years ago.Appearing on the cover has also had a stigma attached at times. Most of the cover athletes during the first 10 years suffered significant injuries the year they appeared. Recently retired Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski was the most recent player to be beset by injuries when he started only six games in 2016.Wide receiver Antonio Brown, who was traded from Pittsburgh to Oakland during the offseason, was on the cover last year.100<button class="view-gallery">View Gallery</button> Gallery:View from the sidelines: NFL cheerleaders 2018Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports | Raj Mehta KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Chiefs safety Eric Berry and running back Spencer Ware returned to practice Wednesday, raising the possibility that both will be available for their AFC championship showdown with New England.Berry missed most of the season with a heel injury that developed in training camp, then played parts of two games against the Chargers and Seahawks. The heel began to bother him again the next week, and he did not practice last week or play in the divisional round against Indianapolis.Ware hurt his hamstring in a Week 14 win over the Ravens.Chiefs coach Andy Reid also said that right guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif http://www.chiefslockerroom.com/authentic-derrick-nnadi-jersey , who was activated off injured reserve Tuesday, would work into the mix with the starters. Whether he starts in Sunday’s game against the Patriots will not be decided until later in the week.“We’re getting our work done starting today,” Reid said, “and we’ll put it in right through Saturday.”The Chiefs have treated Berry with caution all year after the three-time All-Pro tore his Achilles tendon in last season’s opener. He remains one of their best playmakers when he’s on the field, and he’s continued to provide a vocal and emotional lift while he’s been out.He broke down the pregame huddle before last Saturday’s 31-13 victory over the Colts. One sign that Berry might be available came when Duvernay-Tardif came off IR. The Chiefs had to cut someone from the 53-man roster to make space and chose veteran safety Ron Parker.“We’ve had great communication with him, so we’re going to keep that and just see how he feels as we go,” Reid said. “Right now he feels pretty good and we’ll see how he feels at practice, and during practice. We talk to him all the time. Same with Larry and all the guys.”The only player who didn’t practice Wednesday was linebacker Dorian O’Daniel, who remains out with a calf injury. O’Daniel plays on four different special teams units. In other news Womens Kendall Fuller Jersey , the Chiefs began to lay new sod inside Arrowhead Stadium on Wednesday after much of the field was torn up in the divisional round. Heavy snow that began last Friday and stopped just before kickoff left parts of the field mushy, particularly between the hash marks and along the sidelines. Those areas and the south end zone were getting fresh sod.Patriots coach Bill Belichick, whose team is accustomed to playing on turf, acknowledged this week that the playing surface can be important. He also said that the Patriots generally try to replicate it during practice, but that’s sometimes difficult to accomplish.“I’d say during the year we’ve practiced in most every condition we could get,” he said, “and it would be pretty unusual for something to come up that we haven’t at least approximated in the practice setting so that we can refer back to, ‘Well, when it’s like this or when this happens Anthony Hitchens Jersey , we need to make this adjustment,’ because we’ve already talked about it and made it.“So, it would have to be something pretty extraordinary to fall outside of that, out of those experiences that we’ve had over the course of the year. But if it did, we would just broaden our net.”Another factor to consider is the weather: The forecast calls for more rain and snow on Saturday, followed by an Arctic blast Sunday that could yield game-time temperatures in the single digits.“It don’t matter to me on game day,” Chiefs linebacker Justin Houston said. “I just hate TV timeouts and standing there. Besides that, it doesn’t matter what the temperature is when we’re playing.”100<button class="view-gallery">View Gallery</button> Gallery:View from the sidelines: NFL cheerleaders 2018Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports | Raj Mehta

Plays to Love Youth Bruce Irvin Jersey , Plays to swinging momentum and impacting the eventual outcome of the game. There is always plenty to hate about NFL officiating, so we will only focus on the plays on the field, not the refs.Three plays to love2nd Quarter 10:28 – Panthers 3, Falcons 3. Panthers ball 3rd-and-5 at ATL 15The Situation: The Panthers faced third down in the red zone, looking for a touchdown instead of a field goal attempt. The Play: Cam Newton dropped to pass, felt pressure, and rolled out of the pocket to buy time. Cam then threw against his body - on the run - to Devin Funchess for a first down. The play extended the drive which ended in a touchdown instead of a field goal attempt. Just incredible athleticism, strength, and smarts from an elite quarterback. 3rd Quarter 14:20 – Panthers 10, Falcons 17. Falcons ball 1st-and-10 at CAR 39The Situation: The Falcons took a seven point lead into the half then started the third quarter with the ball. Their first play was a 30-yard gain to the Carolina 39, then Wes Horton came up big on the next play. The Play: Matt Ryan dropped back to throw a bomb to a streaking Julio Jones, but Wes Horton appeared to contact Ryan’s arm on the release. Ryan’s pass looked more like a punt and Donte Jackson was able to come down with an easy interception.4th Quarter 2:30 – Panthers 17, Falcons 31. Panthers ball 1st-and-10 at CAR 49The Situation: The game looked just about over with Carolina trailing by two touchdowns and the two-minute warning drawing near, but then D.J. Moore happened. The Play: D.J. Moore ran a deep in route over the middle, caught the pass, shook off a tackler, then sprinted 51-yards for a momentum-shifting score. The play pulled the Panthers deficit to just seven points and gave the team one last shot at a late comeback. Three plays to hate2nd Quarter 7:25 – Panthers 10 Stitched Bruce Irvin Jersey , Falcons 3. Falcons ball 3rd-and-9 at ATL 26The Situation: Call this the “Donte Jackson Implosion Sequence.” The Play: On 3rd-and-9, Matt Ryan’s pass fell incomplete to force an apparent punt, but Donte Jackson was called for (a questionable) pass interference to extend the drive. Two plays later Donte got juked at the line of scrimmage by Tevin Coleman who ran for 36 yards to the Carolina 24. The drive ended when Calvin Ridley beat Jackson in man coverage for a touchdown. Horrible sequence by the rookie cornerback. 3rd Quarter 13:01 – Panthers 10, Falcons 17. Panthers ball 3rd-and-2 at CAR 10The Situation: The Panthers offense took possession on the Carolina 2 following Donte Jackson’s interception. Three plays later they faced 3rd-and-2 from the 10, hoping to convert a first down and avoid punting from their own end zone. The Play: Devin Funchess ran past the first down sticks and Cam delivered a beautiful ball to his back shoulder, just past the defender. But instead of catching it, Funch let the ball bounce off his shoulder pad for an incompletion on a pass he absolutely must catch. This play led to a domino effect of: 1) Punting from the end zone, 2) The Falcons fair catching the punt at the Atlanta 42, and 3) Atlanta capitalizing on the good field position to eventually score a touchdown for a 24-10 lead. 4rd Quarter 6:26 – Panthers 17, Falcons 31. Panthers ball 1st-and-10 at ATL 22The Situation: The Panthers ripped off 53 yards on consecutive passes to Devin Funchess and Torrey Smith to get near the red zone, finally getting some momentum. Trailing by two touchdowns in the fourth, Carolina desperately needed a score. The Play: C.J. Anderson ran a short route, turned around, and was hit right in the hands with a perfect dump-off pass from Cam. But the ball went right through Anderson’s hands and off his shoulder pad where it then popped up into the air and was intercepted by Ricardo Allen. This play was an absolute killer on a drive where the Panthers were getting so close to a much-needed fourth quarter score. Bonus play to both love and hate4th Quarter 8:11 – Panthers 17, Falcons 24. Falcons ball 2nd-and-2 at CAR 5The Situation: Atlanta led by seven early in the fourth quarter. They sustained a long drive that put them just five yards away from a touchdown to go up by 14. Carolina’s D needed a huge play. The Play: Ito Smith took a handoff off right tackle and Kawann Short knocked the ball out of his hands, forcing a fumble. For one beautiful, glorious, hope-filled moment the ball bounced around on the turf waiting for someone to jump on it. This was perhaps Carolina’s last best shot to slow down a Falcon’s offense that had dominated them all day. When a fumble hits the ground it’s usually a 50-50 proposition if the offense or defense will recover. In the end Youth Graham Gano Jersey , Atlanta’s Brandon Fusco fell on the ball and the Falcons scored a touchdown on the very next play to take a 31-17 lead. The game could have been totally different if the Panthers recover this fumble. I “loved” the play by KK Short but “hated” the fact the Panthers couldn’t come up with the fumble and prevent another Atlanta score. Closing it out and summing it upThis was a fairly predictable loss. Disappointing, yes, but at the same time the sky isn’t falling quite yet. Jarius Wright continues to impress while Christian McCaffrey is quickly becoming the only consistently viable offensive weapon. The patchwork offensive line held up fairly well considering our starting left tackle Chris Clark was signed four days before the game. On defense, James Bradberry should be commended for the part he played in limiting Julio Jones to just five receptions (on nine targets) for 64 yards and zero touchdowns. There were many negatives in this game though. The normally dominant front four was shockingly bad, registering zero sacks on Matt Ryan (on 28 attempts) and rarely even pressuring the Falcons QB while also getting destroyed by Atlanta’s rushing attack. If the front four plays like this the rest of the season, Carolina has no shot at the playoffs. Every wide receiver minus Jarius Wright has been pretty bad so far. It seems Carolina’s receivers are almost never wide open and completions only happen when Cam throws a perfect pass. The 1-1 Panthers hope to right the ship against a suddenly frisky 2-0 Cincinnati Bengals team next week. Let’s hope the front four and the wide receivers show up this time. Plays to love season leaders1 - Cam Newton, Christian McCaffrey, D.J. Moore, Kawann Short, Mario Addison, Wes HortonPlays to hate season leaders1 - Amini Silatolu, C.J. Anderson, Christian McCaffrey, Devin Funchess, Donte Jackson, Mike Adams The newest member of the good old boys club fooled them all.Eric Reid will play football this season, and for that everyone who believes in fair play should be happy. After all, the only thing keeping Reid out of the NFL before Thursday was that he stood — make that kneeled — with Colin Kaepernick in San Francisco. Now he’s a Carolina Panther Stitched Graham Gano Jersey , and for that he can thank new Carolina owner David Tepper. It was Tepper who signed off on a deal for the free agent safety, something 31 other NFL owners — and certainly not former Panthers owner Jerry Richardson — had any intention of doing. It was carefully labeled as a football decision, and in some ways it was. The Panthers lost safety Da’Norris Searcy to injury last week and Reid is expected to start when Carolina returns from a bye week to play the New York Giants. But this was also a statement that the old guard may be changing. And it could be Tepper, the hedge fund mogul who bought the team for $2.2 billion in the offseason, leading the way.“It shouldn’t have taken this long, a person with his talent. We all understand the reason why,” said Panthers wide receiver Torrey Smith, who lobbied his team to sign Reid earlier in the week. “This says a lot about the men and the leaders here. They’re making a football decision, but Eric is also a great man and leader.”Yes, it’s only a one-year contract. And, no, it doesn’t mean Kaepernick should brush up on his throwing in case another team calls. But Tepper clearly took a stand by signing Reid to a one-year deal, even at the same time Reid continues his collusion case against the league for not being signed earlier. And that was far different than Jerry Jones ranting and raving about what he might do to any Dallas players who would kneel during the anthem. Far different than the silence from most other teams when asked why they didn’t sign Reid or Kaepernick. But maybe we should have expected it all along.Tepper showed early he wasn’t going to march lockstep with his other billionaire owners on the issue, saying in a CNBC interview earlier this month that it was “dead wrong” to accuse NFL players of being unpatriotic if they knelt during the national anthem to protest social injustice.During the interview, Tepper also recited the Pledge of Allegiance as a patriotic act, ending it with an emphasis on the words “and justice for all.”In this case it’s justice for one. Reid is one of the better safeties in football and is in his physical prime. To deprive him of a chance to play because he exercised the right every American has to protest was simply wrong. And, really, Tepper and the Panthers aren’t taking a big chance. The same fans who threaten to boycott the NFL for player protests will be on their feet cheering Reid if he can bring stability to the secondary of the 2-1 Panthers.Still Youth Wes Horton Jersey , while Reid gets some form of justice, the man who started it all waits for the phone to ring.Kaepernick has a new Nike ad and contract, and the movement he started still looms large over the league. But he doesn’t have a job playing football, and could do little more than congratulate Reid in a tweet on his signing.“He was the 1ST person 2 kneel alongside me,” Kaepernick tweeted. “Eric is a social justice warrior, continues to support his family. and communities in need.”The NFL still finds itself in a quandary about what to do with protests during the anthem. A handful of players took a knee last weekend, though the league has been lucky recently in being spared the Twitter wrath of President Donald Trump, who has used the issue to rally his base. One of those kneeling was Dolphins wide receiver Kenny Stills, who has been vocal all season about his reason for protesting and his view that the NFL needs to employ both Reid and Kaepernick if there is going to be any resolution of the issue.“He’s good enough to play,” Stills said. “He deserves to play.”He could play, even back in San Francisco, where the 49ers could surely use an experienced backup in the wake of Jimmy Garoppolo’s season-ending injury. But whether Kaepernick will play depends on how enlightened NFL owners are becoming — and remember, this isn’t a very socially enlightened bunch.Signing Reid was a necessary first step, but Reid was the easier of the two.It was Kaepernick who started everything, Kaepernick who remains the face of the protest. And Kaepernick who is still out of a job.

Elsewhere, the Ravens moved into sole possession of second place with a win over the Raiders, while the Steelers lost for the first time since Week 4.Ravens defeat Raiders: 34-17 “Gus the Bus” It’s not just Lamar Jackson who has provided an offensive spark over the past two weeks, but rather rookie running back Gus Edwards. For the second consecutive week Nick Boyle Jersey 2019 , Edwards put forth a dominant performance. After rushing for 118 yards against the Raiders, Edwards is now the first Baltimore running back since Justin Forsett to record back-to-back games with over 100 yards on the ground. Edwards has taken advantage of two plus matchups against Cincinnati and Oakland. While Alex Collins was inactive on Sunday with a foot injury, he’s unlikely to be much of a factor going forward. “Gus the Bus” has given life to a Baltimore rushing attack that struggled almost all season, and his efforts have earned him the lead back role.Quarterback controversy? Flacco’s practice pattern over the next several days will be telling but, given his original timeline, he’s expected to return from injury this upcoming week. The question is, will Flacco retain his role as the starting quarterback?Lamar Jackson has been far from perfect in his two starts, but he’s helped the Ravens win consecutive games and jump back into the thick of the playoff race. Jackson has showcased his skills and revived the Ravens running game.Against the Bengals and Raiders combined, Jackson completed 27/44 passes for 328 yards, while tossing three interceptions and scoring two touchdowns. He also added 190 yards rushing on 5.1 YPC.Broncos defeat Steelers: 24-17 “Big Ben” makes a big mistake After the Broncos took a 7-point lead in the fourth quarter, the Steelers had two chances to tie the game. The first possession resulted in a punt, the second ending with a crushing turnover with just over a minute left. After two big receptions by JuJu Smith-Schuster White Nick Boyle Jersey , the Steelers moved into the redzone. Facing a 3rd & 1 just two yards from the endzone, Roethlisberger attempted to loft a pass to Antonio Brown, who was running a crossing pattern. However, it was a poorly thrown ball and the Broncos intercepted the pass with 1:03 remaining in the game. It was a crushing ending to a game in which Roethlisberger threw for 462 yards, but his two interceptions proved to be the difference. Win streak no more The Steelers loss marked the end of a six-game win streak, an impressive run that saw Pittsburgh put drama and dysfunction behind them to take control of the division. The loss drops them to 7-3-1, but they still hold a comfortable lead over the Ravens for first place. Now, they’ll look to start a new win streak in a Sunday night showdown against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 13. It’s an important matchup that could potentially have some playoff implications. Things won’t get any easier for the Steelers as the season goes on, as they face back-to-back contests against the Patriots and Saints in Weeks 15 and 16. Pittsburgh will need to do a better job executing late in games down the stretch.Browns defeat Bengals: 35-20 Mayfield of dreams For the second consecutive game, the Browns put forth a dominant offensive performance and once again it was Baker Mayfield leading the charge.Cleveland looked fresh and spry in their first game out of the bye week, scoring 28 points in the first half and jumping out to a 21-point advantage.Once again, it was Baker Mayfield leading the charge. The rookie signal caller continues to come on strong late in the season Authentic Mark Andrews Jersey , as he threw for 258 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions.Over the past two games, Mayfield has combined to complete 36/46 passes for 474 yards and seven touchdowns. Even more impressive than his lack of incompletions is that Mayfield is taking care of the ball, as he’s thrown zero interceptions over this span. True Hue colors Was Hue Jackson the root of the Browns issues early in the season, or did was he merely scapegoated and fell on the sword? It’s been just three games since Jackson was fired, but it appears the former is correct.Cleveland is 2-1 since Gregg Williams took over as the interim head coach and is playing inspired football on both sides of the ball. Elsewhere, Jackson has done nothing to help the Bengals midseason slide since joining Cincinnati’s staff as an assistant.Baker Mayfield has thrived without Jackson occupying the headset. After the two exchanged in a handshake at midfield following the game, Mayfield took a lowkey shot at his former head coach in his postgame press conference.“We have people who we believe in calling plays now,” said Mayfield.Bengals fall to Browns: 20-35 Andy Dalton injuryThe injury gods have not been very kind to Cincinnati this season, and the Bengals were dealt yet another blow on Sunday. Starting quarterback Andy Dalton exited the contest early in the second half after suffering a thumb injury.Initial tests came back negative, revealing Dalton’s injury to be a sprain rather than a fracture. This is good news, but Dalton’s status for Week 13 will likely be up in the air until close to kickoff. If Dalton were to miss any time, backup Jeff Driskel would likely step in as the starter. Driskel completed 17/29 passes for 155 yards and a touchdown in relief of Dalton during the second half of Sunday’s loss to Cleveland. Is time running out on Marvin Lewis? Marvin Lewis has been the head coach of the Bengals for nearly two decades. Despite a lack of playoff success Authentic Lamar Jackson Jersey , Lewis has been given several opportunities by the Bengals front office for redemption. It appeared the Bengals were prepared to move in a different direction towards the end of the last season. However, following an inspired Week 17 victory against the Ravens, Lewis was given a one-year extension to remain the head coach. Cincinnati is 1-5 in their past six games and barring any miraculous turnaround, they appear headed towards another non-postseason finish this season. Look for Lewis’ seat to warm up in the coming weeks. We’ve seen this story before. Cox/Getty ImagesWhen you think of the most valuable traits for receivers backing up the likes of Julio Jones and Mohamed Sanu? Aside from pure talent, it might be how closely they approximate the skillsets of the men they may need to relieve because of fatigue or injury, as Jason Butt outlined yesterday at The Athletic. The safe assumption heading into this summer is that the Falcons will strive to keep backup receivers who can do a handful of things well. For Justin Hardy Youth Blidi Wreh-Wilson Jersey , that’s his excellent hands, blocking skills, and red zone production, making him a rough analogue for Mohamed Sanu. For Russell Gage, it’s the pure speed that makes him interesting in relief of Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley. And therein lies the rub as the team tries to figures out who their sixth receiver will be Stitched Ty Sambrailo Jersey , if indeed they keep one: They’re looking for guys who can step in an be a poor man’s version of their elite trio. This is a key statement because it tells you that besides special teams value—which you need to have to make it as a sixth guy on virtually any team in the NFL—fit might be the most vital attribute here. With Hardy on board and likely headed for by far the largest role of any of the reserves, the Falcons are likely to lean toward guys who can fly, making Gage one strong contender. The other might not be one of this year’s UDFAs, even though it’s an interesting crop. Butt singles out Devin Gray, a 6’0” speedster who snagged 6 receptions for 111 yards in preseason a year ago and spent the entire year on the practice squad Youth Ty Sambrailo Jersey , and the size, speed, and experience make him an extremely interesting candidate.Regardless of who ultimately wins out, the Falcons will be looking to ensure their offense can hum along as well as possible—and in as familiar a fashion—when one or all of the big three are out of the game. Hopefully, the talent on hand can get that done. ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Falcons have released cornerback Robert Alford Stitched Justin Bethel Jersey , a second-round pick in 2013 who had 10 career interceptions but none this season. The move, announced by the team on Tuesday night, could clear the way for Isaiah Oliver, a 2018 second-round pick, to start. His release will clear $7.9 million in cap space for the 2019 season. In a statement released by the team, general manager Thomas Dimitroff thanked the 30-year-old Alford “for all that he brought to the team during his six seasons in Atlanta.”“He was a significate contributor to our defense and we have a great deal of respect for him,” Dimitroff said. “We wish Robert all the best going forward.”Alford used his Twitter account to say “Thank you Atlanta for 6 incredible seasons. hether cornerback Patrick Peterson will play for the Cardinals in 2019 Black Sam Bradford Jersey , we now have an answer: He won’t. At least not for the first six games of the season.Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the NFL has suspended Peterson six games under the PED policy. Schefter initially tweeted that the suspension will last eight games before revising it to six games and pointing out that Peterson has dropped his appeal. The PED policy does not expressly provide for an eight-game suspension. A six-game suspension is imposed when a positive test result is accompanied by other misconduct. Also, a player can be suspended up to six games when a PED violation is proven via documented evidence unrelated to a positive test.“Details of what Peterson did, and when he did it, remain confidential, as per the NFL’s PED policy,” Schefter writes Zach Allen Arizona Cardinals Jersey , ignoring the obvious reality that any information about a player’s status under the PED policy violates confidentiality, including his report regarding the fact that Peterson will be suspended six games.Peterson will be eligible for offseason and preseason practices and games, and his regular-season suspension will end after the team’s sixth game. He’ll be eligible to return to play on October 20, against the Giants. If, of course, he continues to play for the Cardinals. Many of Keim’s dissenters point out the irony that Keim was an offensive lineman himself. In fact while starting 36 consecutive games at LG for the Wolfpack of N.C. State, Keim was a team captain, offensive line MVP, and 2 time All-ACC selection. He played a year for the Miami Dolphins (1996) and Edmonton Eskimos (1997) before his pro career was cut short due to injuries. Where Steve Keim may deserve scrutiny, is not so much for a lack of understanding as to what makes for a good NFL offensive lineman, it’s mostly about placing too much stock and faith in older, injury-prone veterans. Last year was a prime example---Keim gambled big-time on LG Mike Iupati and RT Andre Smith---plus LT D.J. Humphries and newly signed UFA RG Justin Pugh were coming off injury marred seasons. However, let’s not forget that all 4 of those players were 1st round draft picks. But, alas, none of these 4 players made it past Thanksgiving (3 to IR, 1 waived). Games played: Iupati (10), Humphries (9), Smith (8), Pugh (7). As they say, “you can’t help the club from the tub.”Keys To Good offensive Line Play:1. Coordination.2. Continuity3. Style of OffenseCoordinationThe most important coordinator on the offense is the offensive line coach. His job is to get the line moving in complete unison and syncopation. It’s like choreographing line dances. Every dancer must be in step with the others. The biggest problem for offensives lines is that defensive coordinators keep moving the furniture in order to create confusion and to wreak the kind of havoc that spoils the offensive line’s syncopation.Offensive line play is akin to links in a chain. If one link breaks, so does the chain. Thus, when offensive line coaches instruct their players---part of the time is dedicated to honing run and pass blocking techniques, which is way of getting all of the players in step---but the majority of the time needs to be spent on hammering home the rules that will enable the offensive line to counter for the kind of stunts, slants, loops and twists the defensive line is going to throw at them. One major rule and priority is: protect your play side gap. If a defensive lineman or linebacker charges that gap, you have to abandon your normal assignment to take the first gap threat away. But---here’s the rub: when you do that, the linemen next to you have to adjust and cover for you. This is where smart offensive lines adjust by calling out the help--the communication is key. On twists and TEX stunts the tackle has to pass off the in-slanting end to the guard and then fan out to take the looping tackle. The guard has to react quickly to gain leverage on the in-slanting end so that the end doesn’t quickly slip the block and get straight to the QB. In reverse---if the DT out-slants on the OT, and the DE come looping around inside, the guard has to pass off the DT to the OT and then fan back to be in a position to square up on the in charging DE. Blocking these kinds of twists and TEX stunts is like trying to defend a pick and roll in basketball. It’s the same syncopated principle of “hedge and recover.”Another key rule is when your man picks a side and tries to rip or swim over you---you ride him like a one man sled. Leverage the side he wants to take and drive him laterally as far as you can. ContinuityObviously, keeping the same 5 OL healthy and in sync is of paramount importance. So much of how well an offensive lineman performs hinges on the play of the teammate next to him. There is no question that offensive linemen to the same side develop an advantage over the competition when they have created the kind of chemistry that comes through hundreds of reps and constant communication. Kliff Kingsbury believes in repping plays over and over until the offense has developed a syncopation versus all kinds of defensive looks and counters. This philosophy is offensive line friendly and it aids and abets the T-G-C chemistry on each side of the line. Style of OffenseCardinals’ fans got a very good 5 year look at Bruce Arians’ “no risk it Stitched Jermaine Gresham Jersey , no biscuit” style of offense. That offense was predicated on having a rock solid pocket QB who could threaten the defense vertically---thus the first option was often the deep post or go route and then a check down to the 2nd level. These plays put pressure on the offensive line to maintain a good, functional pocket for the QB. As we know---BA often kept his OTs on islands and if the OT was overmatched by the DE, as Jared Veldheer was versus Demarcus Lawrence, for example, the QB had little to no chance and was constantly in the line of fire. The Patriots under Josh McDaniels and offensive line coach legend Dante Scarnecchia emlpoy a vastly different style. It is an offense that is predicated on quick reads and throws and a power running attack when the box number are in their favor. In the passing game, Tom Brady attacks the defense in 3 waves---the first is to have a TE or WR threaten the seam, which should draw help from the FS---the second is to hit the slot WR over the middle on an “oppo” route, which means the slot WR runs and in or an out cut opposite of where the CB is leveraging him---the third wave is to slip the RB in behind the second level where he is a safety valve and if he makes one man miss, he’s got chunk yards.Last year the Patriots traded for a new LT, Trent Brown, after the FA departure of Nate Solder. The other 4 OL (LG Joe Thuney, C David Andrews, RB Shaq Mason and RT Marcus Cannon have been playing together for a three years now. All 4 of those players were drafted or signed as rookies by the Patriots and developed by Scarnecchia---a 3rd rounder for Thuney, 4th rounder for Mason, a 5th rounder for Cannon and a UCFA signing for Andrews. trent brown was originally a 7th round pick of the 49ers and they got Brown and a 5th round pick (LB Ja’Whaun Bentley, Purdue) for a 3rd round pick (CB Travarius Moore, Southern Mississippi). Great CoachingUltimately, offensive line success is a product of great coaching. Tom Brady has said many tomes that he believes that Dante Scarnecchia is the G.O.A.T. offensive line coach. Bill Belichick frequently offers high praise for Scarnecchia.“Dante’s greatest strength is his ability to get the entire line — and that sometimes includes tight ends, fullbacks, running backs, and occasionally the quarterbacks — to think together, to see things consistently in the same manner, so we can all operate as a team,’’ Belichick said.“I think I have a way of doing things,” Scarnecchia said when asked about his coaching philosophy. “Be strong in what you feel what is right Youth Jermaine Gresham Jersey , get them to buy in, show them the merits of doing it the way we want it done. And if they see it, you’ve got it. If they don’t see it, then you don’t got it.”“He’s a great coach. Very detailed-oriented. Great communicator with his players. He holds you to a high standard, which is very good,” left guard Joe Thuney said. “You can tell he has such a passion for the game. It’s been consistent for the entire duration that I’ve been there.”Last year, Scarnecchia was able to keep the continuity of the offensive intact. And even though Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkwoski missed multiple games due to Edelman’s suspension and Gronk’s injuries, Tom Brady was sacked only 21 times (14 fewer sacks than in 2017) and the Patriots were 5th in the NFL in rushing yards. Why the 2019 Cardinals Have a Chance* Kliff Kingsbury’s spread offenses over the past six years have been very QB friendly in terms of sacks. Check out the stats over the past 5 years:2014 559 attempts---13 sacks---Davis Webb (majority of passes)2015 564 attempts---21 sacks---Patrick Mahomes2016 653 attempts---30 sacks---Patrick Mahomes2017 541 attempts---29 sacks---Nic Shimonek2018 535 attempts---26 sacks---Alan Bowman* During those 5 years, only 1 Texas Tech OL was drafted: T Le’Raven Clark (3rd R 2016---Colts), but look at the number of skill players drafted over that span:2014---TE Jace Amaro (2nd---Jets)2016---RB DeAndre Washington (5th---Raiders)2016---WR Jakeem Grant (6th---Dolphins)2017---QB Patrick Mahomes (1st---Chiefs)2018---WR Keke Coutee (3rd---Texans)2018---WR Dylan Cantrell (6th---Chargers)* What Kingsbury believes in---stretching the field horizontally and vertically, having an array of playmakers makes life easier on the QB & OL and in spreading defenses out, it is easier to run the ball effectively.* OL coach Sean Kugler has been building a reputation as one of the brightest up-and-coming OL coaches in the NFL. Max Starks played for Kugler in Pittsburgh and had this to say: “He’s one of my favorite coaches of all time. He is a very technical coach and is really a teacher. That’s something that’s rare in today’s offensive line coaching philosophy, being that teacher as well as a coach.”* Kugler has 29 years of coaching under his belt and the former head coach at UTEP has been an OL coach with the Lions, Bills, Boise St. (the undefeated year that they bet Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl on the Statue if Liberty play), Steelers and Broncos. He was coached in college by Andy Reid (OLC---UTEP) and Kugler has coached under some creative offensive minds in Marty Mornhinweg, Steve Mariucci, Chris Peterson, Bruce Arians, Todd Haley and now Kliff Kingsbury. If you haven’t watched Kugler’s interview on Cards Coaches Chronicle, it’s fabulous:* Kingsbury and Kugler have a set of veterans to work with: D.J. Humphries, J.R. Sweezy, A.Q. Shipley, Justin Pugh, Marcus Gilbert and Max Garcia Stitched J. J. Nelson Jersey , plus a talented group of 1st or 2nd year linemen in C/G Mason Cole, T Korey Cunningham, C/G Lamont Gaillard, T/G Joshua Miles, G Colby Gossett, T Will Holden and T Desmond Harrison. The Arizona Cardinals thought they had their quarterback of the future when they moved up five spots to take Josh Rosen at No. 10 of last year’s NFL draft. Now they have a new future.Arizona selected a quarterback with a first-round pick for the second straight year, nabbing Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray at No. 1 overall. The Cardinals then shipped Rosen off to Miami, getting the No. 62 overall pick this year and a fifth-rounder next year in return.“The more and more we dug in, the more it became crystal clear Kyler Murray was the pick,” Cardinals GM Steve Keim said. “I’ve been doing this 20 years and I’ve seen guys who can throw like him, guys who can run it like him. I can tell you I’ve never seen the combination he brings to the table.”The Cardinals expect Murray to thrive in new coach Kliff Kingsbury’s pro version of the Air Raid offense and made sure he will have plenty of targets, picking three receivers in the draft.A look at the rest of the Cardinals’ 2019 draft:WHO THEY GOT: Murray was the big name, but Arizona addressed some glaring needs with the rest of the draft. The Cardinals used the 33rd overall pick on Washington cornerback Byron Murphy, hoping he can play opposite Pro Bowler Patrick Peterson. Arizona added a group of receivers for Kingsbury to play with: Massachusetts’ Andy Isabella, Iowa State’s Hakeem Butler, and KeeSean Johnson from Fresno State. Boston College defensive end Zach Allen, selected in the third round, should provide help on the defensive line and Alabama safety Deionte Thompson gives the Cardinals depth in the defensive backfield. Arizona closed out the draft by picking Morgan State OL Josh Miles, Temple DT Michael Dogbe and made UCLA TE Caleb Wilson “Mr. Irrelevant” by selecting him with the draft’s final pick.SURPRISE MOVE: Picking Murray and trading Rosen was a bold move, but the Cardinals believe the Heisman Trophy winner can be a transformational player.HOW THEY DID: The Cardinals needed help on the defensive line, cornerback and receiver, so their picks should boost those areas. They also needed offensive line help but waited until the sixth round to draft Georgia center Lamont GaillardWHAT’S NEXT?: Murray will be the unquestioned starter heading into next season with Rosen no longer on the roster. His success will depend on whether his speed, athleticism and ability to throw at different angles will be enough to overcome his lack of size (5-foot-10) for an NFL quarterback. Murphy could start as a nickel cornerback or play opposite Peterson if recently signed Robert Alford doesn’t get the job. Isabella and Butler will give Arizona speedy receiver options and Thompson a big target to go with Larry Fitzgerald and second-year pro Christian Kirk.

Rebilas-USA TODAY SportsBaltimore Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta bolstered the existing strengths of pass coverage and rushing offense at the start of the new league year. The team’s primary remaining positional needs are clearly identified as wide receiver and edge rusher. The interior of the offensive line, inside linebacker and tailback could also benefit from additional depth. DeCosta will utilize his draft capital to construct a roster capable of defending Baltimore’s AFC North crown. With a touch of luck, value and need could merge to produce the perfect 2019 Ravens draft:Pick #22: Clelin Ferrell, Edge, ClemsonFerrell lacks the flashy athleticism of his draft mates Josh Allen, Montez Sweat and Brian Burns, but he projects as a three-down ‘rush’ linebacker who can step in immediately at Terrell Suggs’ spot. Clelin’s edge setting ability makes him a complete player who would complement returning situational rushers Tim Williams and Tyus Bowser. An intelligent and powerful pass rusher with impressive collegiate production, the Clemson product is the definition of a ‘solid double’. Pick #85: Elgton Jenkins, C Youth Michael Pierce Jersey , Mississippi StateJenkins would be a fine consolation prize if the Ravens miss out on top interior lineman Erik McCoy, Garrett Bradbury and Chris Lindstrom. An experienced SEC performer, his best attributes are a sturdy anchor and heavy hands. Elgton could compete with Matt Skura for the starting center job and eventually develop into a solid long-term solution at the pivot.Pick #102: Terry McLaurin, WR, Ohio StateThe Ravens should take advantage of depth at receiver with this selection. McLaurin is a burner with run after the catch ability who displayed polished route running at the Senior Bowl. The former Buckeye possesses the skillset to serve as a high-end number-2 wideout in the NFL. He would provide an instant upgrade to the Ravens concerning receiver corps.Pick #113: Emanuel Hall, WR, MissouriDouble-dipping at receiver in this range would be ideal. Hall has inconsistent hands, but his big play ability is unquestioned. With prototypical long speed and quickness, he would become the downfield threat Baltimore needs to create space for their returning possession receivers underneath.Pick #123: Jalen Jelks Stitched James Hurst Jersey , Edge, OregonJelks is a bit of a ‘tweener who often played as a down lineman despite suboptimal size. His unique ability would be an asset in Don Martindale’s scheme if deployed as an interior rusher. With the quickness and motor to devour guards in obvious passing situations, Jalen could help compensate for the loss of Za’Darius Smith.Pick #160: Trayveon Williams, RB, Texas A&MA devoted third down back would round out Baltimore’s committee of Mark Ingram, Gus Edwards and Kenneth Dixon. Williams’ pass catching, open field elusiveness and pass blocking fit the bill. Considering his proven production and upside, Travyeon would be a value selection in the fifth round.Pick #191: Dru Samia, OG Youth James Hurst Jersey , OklahomaAnother interior blocker to bolster competition on the line. Baltimore has several options at guard, nevertheless developing a succession plan behind stalwart Marshal Yanda would be wise. Samia is an adept pass blocker with the aggression to become a well-rounded starter after improving his technique. Pick #193: Joe Giles-Harris, LB, DukeA late rounder would not adequately replace C.J. Mosley, but the defense does not require a great inside linebacker now that generational safety Earl Thomas will be patrolling the middle of the field. If Williams is healthy, that’s not too bad of a number based on the going rate for offensive tackles in today’s NFL landscape.<hr class="p-entry-hr" id="0IxDD9">The Carolina Panthers are giving right tackle Daryl Williams the chance to prove himself after spending the majority of the 2018 season on injured reserve by bringing him back on a one-year deal, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter. There are two things to consider here with this news. First, we don’t know the terms of the contract, so there’s no reason to freak out just yet. Schefter’s report specifically states ‘prove-it year’ and those are generally cheap deals so players can... well... prove that they can stay healthy. Unless Marty Hurney gave Williams a one-year, $35 million contract Stitched Greg Olsen Jersey , there’s no reason to grab your pitchforks just yet. Also, Williams — when healthy — is one of the better offensive linemen on the team. Having him back at 100% and playing right tackle means that Taylor Moton can slide over to left tackle, which prevents a certain player that Panthers fans love to hate from being the starter. So, like I said — unless Hurney gave up the farm to get Williams to return it’s probably not the end of the world (at least not yet).Stay tuned as we’ll provide updates to this story whenever the details of the contract are released. CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP)The Panthers will not be punished for their handling of Cam Newton’s injury during a playoff loss to the New Orleans Saints on Jan. 7. The NFL and the Players Association announced Wednesday that Carolina’s medical staff correctly followed concussion protocol guidelines. The league released a statement Wednesday saying it reviewed game footage and medical reports, as well as statements and interviews with Newton and coach Ron Rivera Youth Kawann Short Jersey , before making its determination that ”there was no protocol violation.” After walking off the field with a second-half eye injury, Newton stumbled to the ground near the sideline when asked by trainers to take a knee. The league said they believe that stumble was caused by a previous knee injury. The NFL said the league’s 2015 MVP had an MRI on Jan. 8 that ”confirmed ligament and cartilage damage and very extensive swelling in the knee.” Panthers interim general manager Marty Hurney told The Associated Press on Wednesday that Newton will not need surgery on the knee. Newton sat out one play, but returned on the next offensive series and finished the game. Hurney said on Jan. 8 that Newton intentionally took a knee because he was told to by the team’s training staff so Carolina could get an official timeout, thus allowing backup quarterback Derek Anderson a little more time to warm up on the sideline. Anderson came in for one third-down play and threw an incompletion. ”He took a hit,” Hurney said of Newton. ”But when he walked off and he told the trainers he got poked in the eye, then they did take him into the tent and checked him for a concussion Stitched Kawann Short Jersey , which he did not have. And it was really getting poked in the eye.” Up for debate in the investigation was whether Newton should have been taken to the locker room for evaluations. The league and the players union changed its concussion protocol in December after Texans quarterback Tom Savage returned to the field after having a concussion that left the quarterback’s hands shaking following a hit. The changes to the protocol include the requirement of a locker room concussion evaluation for all players ”demonstrating gross or sustained vertical instability (e.g., stumbling or falling to the ground when trying to stand.)” Newton did not visit the locker room. Newton said after the team’s loss to the Saints that ”it wasn’t my head. It was my eye. My helmet had come down low enough over my eyelid and it got pressed by the player’s stomach.” ”Our review of all of the facts do not support a claim of inappropriate medical care,” the NFL Players Association said in a statement. ”Mr. Newton was immediately evaluated for a concussion and cleared by the team physician and unaffiliated neurotrauma consultant.” The Seattle Seahawks were fined $100,000 in Week 10 after the league and union determined they failed to apply the concussion protocol properly after quarterback Russell Wilson took a blow to the head against the Arizona Cardinals. —

The Miami Marlins have new uniforms Stitched Matt Ryan Jersey , and we need to grade them. I’m already mad about them replacing their home-run sculpture in center field, so this should be a good outlet for my anger. meless and perfect. I’m mad at how good it is, instead. But first, we need to back up. After removing the sculpture, I figured the new owners of the Miami Marlins wanted to turn the franchise into a Cheesecake Factory: pleasant, completely non-confrontational, and similar to the baseball-consumption experience found in other baseball-distribution centers around the country. It’s like they looked at the home of the Nationals, Nationals Park — affectionately referred to as “Nationals Park” by the locals — and turned teal in envy. “This is what a ballpark should be,” they thought. “A structure with walls and grass in the middle and the vibrancy of a packing peanut!”The Marlins are going to replace the sculpture with more room for fans. There will be standing-room-only seating that will be cheaper for the baseball-curious, and there certainly is wisdom in that. Get fans in on the cheap and hope they’ll stick around when they have the discretionary income to do so. It’s at least a plan! Still, the sculpture defined a ballpark that is in now danger of being entirely sterile. I’ll miss that. HOWEVER, we’re here to talk about the Marlins’ new uniforms and grade them. You can skip the history lesson if you want to get to the grades below, but it’s helpful to review the old uniforms quickly, just to get an idea of how far they’ve come. If you’ll remember, the first iterations were a ghastly batch that looked like someone melted down episodes of 90210 and used them to dye fabric. what iscome onbuddy, noIn 20 years, the Marlins will wear these uniforms in a throwback promotion Youth Matt Ryan Jersey , and all of the kids will think they’re neat, just like a lot of us do for the hideous-great Astros and Padres uniforms from the ‘70s. We’ll be the ones who are stodgy and wrong. So luxuriate in the present, when those uniforms are still awful. They got worse. These pinstripes were never okay with that jersey:Photo by Victor Baldizon/Getty ImagesI miss the D-Train so very much, but that picture still makes me mad. That’s an alternate uniform, but it’s not like the regular one was any better. The logo was from a Saturday morning cartoon that was canceled when the merchandise didn’t sell, and did we mention the pants and jersey look awful together? The biggest problem, though, might have been the logo, which emphasized the “F” in “Florida.” This was a doubling-down on the bizarre decision to name the team after the state instead of the large, vibrant city they played in. This was before the Rays existed, sure, but when you’re playing in one of the most unique metropolitan areas in the country, make sure everyone is aware of it. They did for the next iteration, which smartly rebranded the team after the city: Photo by Marc Serota/Getty ImagesWhen that logo was revealed I might have described it as “Tron light cycles having an orgy,” and the rest of the SB Nation family joined in with the jokes, but time made the uniforms familiar and sensible and unique. I liked those unis. The orange alternates were A BIT MUCH,but both the home whites and road grays were strong. The new logo is also strong: It is, perhaps Black Jake Matthews Jersey , a little busy with the seams coming out of the marlin’s midsection, but the colors are nice. I would have preferred something even more bold and daring, with the sliders nudged a little more pink-ward, but this no mistaking which team is going with this color scheme. This is not a uniform that could work in Denver or St. Louis, and that’s the point. As for the uniforms, they’re a mixed bag, but I’ll take the bad with the good. The worst - black alternate jerseyIn a vacuum, they’re harmless, but my stars do they look like Mets Alternates But Neon. Unless this is just an homage to Marlins great Mike Piazza, in which case, carry on. As is, though, they are boring, at best, and derivative, at worst. Grade: D+The pretty good — blue alternate jerseyI’m not as enamored of these jerseys as Baseball Twitter seems to be, but they do pop with the new colors of the logo. I’m sure these will look sharp on the field. My biggest complaint is with the alternate logo. I’m not sure they really knew what to do with the tail of the marlin, and the ended up making it look like an angry mosquito. That’s not regionally inappropriate Jake Matthews Jersey 2019 , I guess. Grade: BThe Great — standard home and away jerseysI absolutely adore these. So you’re a graphic designer who wants to emphasize the unique aesthetic qualities of Miami, without going completely avant-garde and designing something that looks like a Turn Ahead The Clock Night uniform? How do you accomplish that? How do you blend the new and vibrant with the traditionally stuffy baseball mindset?Like this. The logo is a classic script, something that makes it look like the Marlins have been around since ‘32 and this was always their uniform. The accented colors give it just enough kick, though, to make it a completely unique uniform experience. Again, this isn’t something that can exist in San Diego or Seattle. Bah gawd, those are Marlins colors, but don’t you forget it. It’s just a very teensy dash of Marlins colors to remind us, mind you, but that’s fine. Less is more. It’s like wearing a Mot枚rhead necktie to a wedding with a nice suit. You want to be respectful of tradition, but you also want to remind everyone that you aren’t adverse to a little rockin’ or rollin’. It’s a compromise that errs on the side of traditional, but still gives you that one very important piece of flair. Maybe I was wrong with the Cheesecake Factory dig. Maybe they want to be a Ruth’s Chris that features local produce? Regardless, these might be my favorite uniforms in the majors, but I’ll calm down before making a definitive proclamation. Still, it’s not too early to grade:Grade - A+Considering that the home whites and road grays will be the default, it’s hard to nitpick too much about the alternates. The Marlins took a strong uniform and made it much better. That was hard to do. For the first time in the Derek Jeter Era, I’m riding with the Marlins’ vision and loving it. That script. That script! I remember when the Marlins won their first World Series with that uniform, back in ‘57. You can send me links to evidence that I’m mistaken Black Andy Levitre Jersey , but it’s 2018, so I won’t read or trust your evidence. It was a memorable World Series, and that was the first time the world fell in love with these. They’re so classic. Memories like that help make it so. It’s Eric DeCosta’s phone ringing. Or, it should be. Who’s on the other line you ask? Well, I’m glad you did, because it’s somebody who’s ready to give up a draft pick to Baltimore to solve a serious problem position Youth Ty Montgomery Jersey , or should be. That would be Bears GM Ryan Pace who’s had an overall good tenure in Chicago, but has had serious difficulties figuring out one very underrated but important position in that time: kicker. Ever since Robbie Gould left town (who wasn’t playing well at the time), it’s been one failed experiment after another at the position. This all came to a head last January as Cody Parkey fired the doink(s) heard ‘round the world and sent his team packing after a 12-4 season that should’ve ended in contention for the Super Bowl. Instead, they headed for the proverbial golf course of the offseason and set off with one goal in mind: find a kicker. With Eddie Pineiro and Elliot Fry currently duking it out, it’s safe to say they haven’t quite solved the issue just yet. Lucky for them though, Dr. DeCosta has the medicine they need to cure their kicking woes; or, at the very least Stitched Mark Ingram Jersey , spice the current competition up just a tad. That would be kicker/punter hybrid Kaare Vedvik, who won’t have a spot on the final roster in Baltimore, but has all preseason to showcase his skills and find a permanent home elsewhere. The Norweigan was nails on Thursday night, hitting field goals 55, 45, 29, and 26 yards and drilling both of his extra points. It’s been a long road back for Vedvik after an off-field incident kept him from playing in 2018 Youth Mark Ingram Jersey , and as a result he was pretty much untradeable following last season’s camp. All he has to do, though, is keep stringing performances like last night together and a team will come calling. Looking at you Mr. Pace – do the right thing and send a fifth rounder Baltimore’s way. You’ll thank DeCosta for the steal later, as this Norweigan demi-God is booting 50+ yarders right down the middle routinely, and putting so much mustard on them that they aren’t even in the same area code as a goal post. s.That’s the word from Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White https://www.pantherslockerroom.com/authentic-christian-mccaffrey-jersey , who says that he is going forward with Hardy making his official UFC debut on the first fight card that will be broadcast by ESPN.“We’ve been building this ESPN card for a while and he was one of the guys that we had planned on putting on that card,” White said of Hardy.Asked a follow-up about the UFC’s decision to put Hardy on the same card as female UFC fighter Rachael Ostovich, who was recently injured in an incident that resulted in her boyfriend, mixed martial arts fighter Arnold Berdon, being charged with second-degree assault, White told reporters that Ostovich doesn’t have a problem with it so no one else should, either.“I’m not going to talk about Greg Hardy anymore Womens DJ Moore Jersey ,” White said. “I already covered this. I’m not playing this bulls–t with you guys. He’s on the UFC roster. He’s on the UFC roster, period, end of story. . . . He’s on the roster. Listen, you guys want to be sensitive about s–t? Anybody can be sensitive about anything. You can make an issue about everything. The weird thing is, you guys give a f–k, but she doesn’t. She doesn’t care.”Ostovich may not care, or she may feel she can’t speak up because she needs to make a living as a UFC fighter Donte Jackson Jersey White , and UFC fighters who publicly contradict Dana White lose their abilities to make their livings. And making an issue of Hardy fighting in the Octagon on ESPN would be contradicting White, who accused reporters of caring about Hardy only because he “gets hits” and threatened to walk out of a press appearance if he was asked repeated questions about it.“I’m done with it. I’m done with it. I’m done with it. I’m done with it! I’m done. Don’t make me leave. I’m done,” White said.White denied that anyone cares about Hardy’s past, which includes a domestic violence allegation that got him arrested and suspended by the NFL.“Nobody’s been put off by it,” White said. “Who’s put off by it?”Although charges against Hardy were ultimately dropped when he agreed to settle a civil lawsuit with the woman he was accused of abusing, that arrest is the primary reason that Hardy is no longer in the NFL. NFL teams were put off by Hardy enough that they no longer want him. The UFC and its partners at ESPN don’t feel the same way. vin Gordon and the potential holdout for Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott has dusted off the debate regarding whether the NFL properly values the running back position. It does Youth J.J. Jansen Jersey , but only for truly special running backs. That’s the line of demarcation. Every year, the NFL has a handful of special running backs. And it’s always subject to change; last year, Rams running back Todd Gurley was special. This year, the jury on Gurley is out, at best.So who are the special running backs entering 2019? I see three: Ezekiel Elliott, Saquon Barkley, and Christian McCaffrey. Others could become special throughout 2019, like Joe Mixon, James Conner, and/or Dalvin Cook (to name only a few). Others who once were special could become special again, like Gurley, Le'Veon Bell, and (once his suspension ends) Kareem Hunt. When it comes to special running backs getting paid, the problem continues to be that the most special performances typically happen under the lowball terms of a rookie contract. By the time the player is in position to get paid, it’s entirely possible that his best days already are behind him.For example, Chris Johnson had 1,228 rushing yards as a rookie with the Titans, 2,006 in his second year Stitched J.J. Jansen Jersey , and 1,364 in his third season. He held out in 2011 to get paid, and he got paid he did. But then Johnson had more rushing yards than the career low for his first three seasons only once, with 1,243 yards in 2012.Other special running backs have improved after getting paid, like LaDainian Tomlinson and Adrian Peterson. Still, there’s a chance that by the time Elliott, Barkley, and McCaffrey get their financial rewards, they won’t do more than they’ve done before executing their second contracts. That’s why it’s important for special running backs to begin clamoring for new deals as soon as they become eligible: Elliott now, McCaffrey after 2019, and Barkley after 2020. And it’s equally important for non-special running backs to think carefully about whether to take a stand in order to get their own contracts, because they are much more easily replaced than special running backs. For example, before Gordon holds out, he needs to assess his own skills relative to other available options, Gordon needs to consider the team he’s dealing with, and Gordon needs to ponder the end game.In Gordon’s case, Austin Ekeler would step in. How big is the gap between Gordon and Ekeler? That’s a question that Gordon’s camp needs to assess objectively, candidly Youth Mario Addison Jersey , and if need be bluntly. Then there’s the fact that the Chargers don’t seem to be inclined to wobble. Their coach, Anthony Lynn, is a former running back and running backs coach. Lynn knows special running backs when he sees them, and if Lynn has no qualms about flipping the switch from Gordon to Ekeler, well, Lynn probably knows what he’s doing. Finally, what happens if Gordon holds out and demands a trade? Will another team offer something significant to the Chargers and also pay Gordon what he wants? Or will Gordon eventually cave, like Maurice Jones-Drew did in 2012?A holdout likely won’t end well for Gordon. As running backs go, a holdout will usually end well only for truly special running backs. And those teams that have special running backs usually know that they need to move before their hand is forced. CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP)The Carolina Panthers find themselves on the brink of clinching a playoff spot despite a season filled with off-field distractions. The Panthers (10-4) can reach the postseason for the fourth time in the last five seasons under coach Ron Rivera with a win Sunday against the slumping Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-10). The Panthers, who’ve won six of their past seven games, are tied with New Orleans atop the NFC South, but the Saints hold the head-to-head tiebreaker. The Panthers would need to win out and the Saints to lose one of their remaining two games to win the division. It is the type of consistency the Panthers have been striving for since coming into the league in 1995. Prior to 2014, the team had never been to the postseason in back-to-back seasons. ”What it talks about as far as the culture inside the locker room is we have a group of young men who want to win,” Rivera said. ”It’s been a group of young men who have given their all over the past five seasons and put a lot on the line. … I think it speaks very well for what we have established here.” The Panthers didn’t get to this point without overcoming their fair share of distractions. Carolina’s season has been a soap opera of epic proportions, beginning with owner Jerry Richardson’s surprising decision to fire general manager Dave Gettleman on the eve of training camp – and then replace him with former GM Marty Hurney. The Panthers later lost Pro Bowl tight end Greg Olsen for more than two months to a broken foot (he’s since returned) and traded No. 1 wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin to Buffalo. Then came Cam Newton’s sexist comment to a female reporter, which drew harsh criticism for the league’s 2015 MVP and cost him a sponsorship deal. And in the coup de grace, Richardson stunningly announced Sunday he’s putting the team up for sale after the season following a bombshell report from Sports Illustrated detailing alleged sexual and racial misconduct in the workplace. Richardson remains under investigation by the league. ”I’ve heard an analogy in one of our meetings: The calmest part of a tornado is right in the middle of it,” Newton said. ”We’re trying to have a great attitude that’s contagious professionally that people can leech from and say Stitched Mario Addison Jersey , `Man, look how Cam’s preparing. Look how Julius (Peppers) is preparing. Look how Luke (Kuechly) is preparing – he’s not letting these things get to him.”’ Five things to know about the Bucs-Panthers game: NO THOMAS DAVIS: The Panthers held the Buccaneers to three points earlier this season in Tampa, in part because of the play of outside linebacker Thomas Davis. But the 2015 Walter Payton Man of the Year won’t be on the field Sunday because he’s been suspended one game by the NFL for an illegal hit on Packers wide receiver Davante Adams last week. Davis apologized for the hit, saying he meant no harm and Rivera said the hit wasn’t intentional. David Mayo will start for Davis, who won an appeal to get the suspension reduced from two games. The good news for the Panthers is their other starting outside linebacker Shaq Thompson is expected to return after missing two games with plantar fasciitis. BANGED-UP BUCS: The Panthers will be facing a banged-up Buccaneers team that placed five players on injured reserve, including two of their top rookies, safety Justin Evans and tight end O.J. Howard, after their Monday night loss to Atlanta. Evans is currently tied for third among rookies in interceptions (three), while tying for fourth in total tackles (66). Howard has six receiving touchdowns this season, tied for the NFL rookie lead and the fourth most by a Buccaneers rookie. ”We had a flurry of injuries this last game for whatever reason,” coach Dirk Koetter said. NEWTON ON THE RUN: Newton has been a huge factor running the football over the last seven games. Newton has run 65 times for 432 yards and two touchdowns during that span. The threat of him running has helped open other facets of the offense. Bucs defensive coordinator Mike Smith calls Newton ”arguably their best running back on the team.” ”They are running him more,” Smith said. ”He is their leading rusher in terms of average, so he is a guy that we’ve got to make sure we can get him on the ground and have guys that are going to be shadowing him on certain defensive calls.” THE REAL McCOY: Gerald McCoy and the Bucs may be out of playoff contention, but the 2017 Pro Bowl defensive tackle said there is still something to play for. ”We can let this division know that we are still here,” McCoy said. ”I think we get overlooked a lot, which that’s what comes with not winning. But we are still here and we can still make an impact on this division. Carolina is on fire right now. We’re going to have to bring it because they are at home, and when they are at home, it’s a hard place to win at.” CORNERBACK TANDEM: Panthers starting cornerbacks James Bradberry and Daryl Worley went 12 weeks without an interception. Now they each have a pick in the last two games as takeaways are suddenly coming in bunches for Carolina. — AP Sports Writer Fred Goodall contributed to this report. —

report for Wednesday Womens Mark Andrews Jersey , and there were several new players listed.Alex Collins (illness), Willie Henry (abdomen), Hayden Hurst (foot), C.J. Mosley (knee), and Michael Pierce (foot) all did not participate in practice. Henry and Hurst are expected to miss at least this week, and most likely Baltimore’s week four matchup against the Steelers.Collins is not expected to miss anytime, while Mosley could be sidelined for the next couple of weeks due to a bone bruise. Head coach John Harbaugh has not provided any updates Mark Andrews Jersey White , but it is expected that he will miss at least one game. Michael Pierce’s foot injury was a surprise, and his status for Sunday is still unknown. Matthew Judon and Ronnie Stanley were both limited participants in practice. Stanley was spotted wearing a brace on his right arm during Wednesday’s session. Judon’s hamstring injury is also new, and it is unclear the severity of it. The Broncos have released their injury report, and several key players did not practice on Wednesday. Adam Jones, Case Keenum, Brandon Marshall, and Jared Veldheer were absent from practice https://www.theravenslockerroom.com/authentic-mark-andrews-jersey , while Shane Ray and Bradley Roby were full-participants. The Baltimore Ravens are deep at a few positions, maybe none more so than tight end. They should be considering the large amount of investment they’ve made into it over the past several years. In 2015 they doubled up on the position grabbing Maxx Williams and Nick Boyle, and they did so once again in 2018, grabbing Hayden Hurst and Mark Andrews this past Spring. Following the ‘18 season, it’s hard to say any of those investments were flat out bad, and you can make an argument for at least one being a big time success. These four players comprise the current Ravens depth chart for the position, something we’re going to be taking a more in-depth look at below. The 2019 Ravens’ position outlook for the tight end spot:Current depth chart:鈥?Nick Boyle: UFA鈥?Hayden Hurst: 2019 cap hit = $2 Iman Marshall Baltimore Ravens Jersey ,006,550鈥?Mark Andrews: 2019 cap hit = $689,165鈥?Maxx Williams: UFAOffseason outlook:As was stated at the top, this may be Baltimore’s deepest and strongest position. Boyle and Williams both had fine seasons as solid starters, though there’s not much of an argument to bring either back, at least not at a substantial price tag.Once looked at as a bit of a bust, Williams had a nice season as a utility player Youth Iman Marshall Jersey , and Boyle has played a similar role for his entire career after being a fifth round pick. However, it’s the breakout season by Andrews and the promise of Hurst which makes it fairly easy to let them walk.Andrews had over 500 yards and three scores while grading out as PFF’s #13 overall tight end in the entire league. He’ll be making less than a million dollars next year and should be the starter heading into training camp.Hurst’s first season was ultimately a disappointment, as an injury sidelined him for the first month, leaving room for Andrews to break out and effectively take his spot. He had a few flashes though, and Lamar Jackson clearly thinks highly of him; hopefully he’s able shrug off the weight of a rough rookie season, and he has a full offseason in front of him to do so.This is a position that really doesn’t need a ton of work. Let us know if you have any ideas on how to improve at the tight end position.

But it seems like NFL officials have trouble getting on the same page about when it’s appropriate to issue a personal foul for the hit and when to throw the flag at all.Take Thursday night’s Panthers-Steelers game for example. In the third quarter, Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger ran the ball for 18 yards, easily converting a first down and sliding around the Panthers’ 14-yard line.Carolina safety Eric Reid attempted to tackle Roethlisberger. His shoulder made contact with the quarterback’s helmet, landing a nasty hit on Big Ben. It didn’t take long for the officials to give Reid a personal foul for unnecessary roughness and eject him from the game. Nobody is arguing that Reid didn’t deserve a personal foul, but fans are wondering where the consistency is on these types of calls this season.Earlier in this same game, Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt made a questionable hit on Panthers quarterback Cam Newton. But there was no ejection, let a lone a flag.Just weeks ago, there were two helmet hits against quarterbacks Dak Prescott and Baker Mayfield that weren’t flagged as well.NFL officials need to work on issuing penalties consistently; otherwise they’re going to keep facing frustrated fans and even more frustrated players.

Not shocking.Tytus Howard had a great Senior Bowl and has turned heads quite a bit, but to see him at 33, well it tells you about the run on tackles in the first round, as Kadar has seven going before 33. The 6-5 299lbs tackle has the feet to play. Will he gain enough weight to make an impact in year one. This is actually my least favorite pick of the batch. The 6-2 330lbs nose tackle would be a nice fit Stitched Chandler Jones Jersey , but I feel like for what the Cardinals need, it would be better in round six or seven, with one of those picks. What do you think of the Cardinals three round haul? How would you grade it: The pick of Chad Williams in the 2017 NFL Draft was one that had many Arizona Cardinals fans and pundits across the league scratching their head. When they saw Williams in person though, his physique, athleticism and ability to make a play with the ball in his hands started to quiet those questions.Everyone knew and assumed that year one would be a lean one, the rookie was coming into a wide receiver room with some talent, Larry Fitzgerald, John Brown Hakeem Butler Arizona Cardinals Jersey , Jaron Brown, J.J. Nelson, and a veteran quarterback in Carson Palmer. It was also going to be a big jump for Williams, who played his college ball at Grambling State. So his first season turning in only three catches for 31 yards was not all that unexpected.Big things were expected and needed in year two, however. The Cardinals came into the season with Williams slated to be the number two wide receiver behind Larry Fitzgerald, slotting in front of newly drafted Christian Kirk. Then the season started, the Cardinals offense was a complete mess and worse off, Williams did not even post a reception until game three Cheap Hakeem Butler Jersey , where he had one catch for eight yards against the Chicago bears.Since then, Williams has only played in five more games, catching ten passes for 105 yards and one touchdown, the only of his career. Now, as we head into the final two weeks of the season, the question is, can you believe in Chad Williams to be a contributor moving forward? The short answer is no.Williams could see action this week, at least head coach Steve Wilks is hopeful Hakeem Butler Arizona Cardinals Jersey , but he has to put up some numbers too.You see, the names of players that finish their first two seasons with under 15 catches who were picked in the top 100 is not a list you want to be a part of, this is just since 2000.That’s where Williams is at this point and that’s where the Cardinals are. They desperately need talent at the wide receiver position, and Williams was the second one chosen in the top 100 by Steve Keim. Now, with John Brown going through a mini career revival in Baltimore, and Williams looking like a miss, the Cardinals could be back at the drawing board.Christian Kirk is not a bad starting point, but if Larry Fitzgerald walks away towards retirement 2019 Hakeem Butler Jersey , this wide receiver room gets bottom of the league bad immediately. That begs the question, is Chad Williams someone you can count on moving forward, or are we already at the point where Trent Sherfield an Jalen Tolliver offer more hope?No matter your answer, the Cardinals desperately need wide receiver help, either from someone stepping up in house, or finding the right fit in the draft and free agency.
