TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Alabama seniors go into their final home game sporting a gaudy record with a shot at another Southeastern Conference title and maybe a second straight national championship awaiting.Nothing offers a lifetime supply of bragging rights at Auburn or Alabama quite like Iron Bowl success, though. The top-ranked Crimson Tide (11-0, 7-0 SEC, No. 1 CFP) hosts No. 16 Auburn (7-2, 5-2, No. 13) Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium in a game that captivates much of the state for 365 days, not just 3-plus hours.I think this is one of the greatest rivalry games in the country, Alabama coach Nick Saban said. I know it means a lot to a lot of people in this state as well as nationally and the competitors in the game probably enjoy this kind of competition, this kind of rivalry as much as any game that they play.`Bama seniors carry a 48-5 record and a 23-game winning streak into this boiling cauldron of a game. Theyve also won two straight over their in-state rivals, and will face No. 13 Florida in the SEC championship game in Atlanta. The Tigers and their fans dont have a title shot awaiting, but crashing Bamas party would be the next best thing. Its the first Iron Bowl for the Tides seemingly unflappable freshman quarterback Jalen Hurts. Auburn has kept its starting quarterback a mystery while Sean White tries to return from a shoulder injury but gets a huge boost with the return of tailback Kamryn Pettway. The game features two top 10 scoring defenses, as well. Those Alabama seniors still remember their first Iron Bowl, in 2013. Thats when Auburn won on a 109-yard return of a missed field goal on the final play, ultimately winning the SEC title and playing for a national championship.I think about it every time we play Auburn, Tide defensive end Jonathan Allen said. Kinda sucked. I feel like they took a national championship away from me. So thats something I definitely remember and still think about every now and then.---Some other things to look for in the Iron Bowl:PETTWAYS BACK: Auburns leading rusher, Pettway is expected to play after missing the last two games with a left leg injury. If hes close to fully healthy, the 240-pounder gives the Tigers a bigtime physical running threat against the nations top run defense. You cant let him go north and south, Tide safety Minkah Fitzpatrick said. Youve got to make him go east and west. When you do that, you can stop him.WHOS THE QB: If Whites throwing shoulder isnt healed enough to go, the Tigers could start Jeremy Johnson for the second straight game. Johnson is the teams most experienced quarterback while John Franklin III is likely to play a role as well, and is a significant running threat.OH THE PRESSURE: This game features some of the SECs top pass rushers, on both sides of the ball. Auburns Carl Lawson is tied for third in the league with nine sacks. Just behind him are Alabamas Tim Williams (8.0), Jonathan Allen (7.0) and Ryan Anderson (6.5).OFFENSIVE CHANGE: Alabama has adopted some quarterback runs to take advantage of freshman Jalen Hurts abilities and does bear more resemblance than ever to Auburns style. Its getting more and more similar each year, Malzahn said. Each offense is a little bit different. Theres a lot of teams in our league that doing more of spread it out, the lightning motions, the QB runs and the things off of it. Regardless, youve got to stop it and every offense is a little bit different.JUST FOR KICKS: If this game defies the oddsmakers and comes down to a field goal, Auburns Daniel Carlson has the edge on most teams. Carlson has made 22 of 25 field goals and is a finalist for the Lou Groza Award given to the nations top placekicker for the second straight year. Alabamas Adam Griffith has been less consistent, making 14 of 20.---More AP college football: www.collegefootball.ap.org and https://twitter.com/AP-Top25 Nike Shoes Outlet 2019 . SANTA CLARA, Calif. --?San Francisco 49ers CEO Jed York said Thursday that the team will give $1 million to a pair of local organizations in hopes of finding solutions to racial and economic issues dividing Bay Area communities. The financial commitment to the Silicon Valley Community Foundation and the San Francisco Foundation comes one week after quarterback?Colin Kaepernick?announced plans to donate the first $1 million of his salary to organizations fighting for human rights.York said the 49ers donations would be separate from the $1 million pledged by quarterback Colin Kaepernick to human rights groups. The 49ers commitment also is to organizations different from those with which Kaepernick will work.Im not sure if hes figured out where hes putting his money, York said. Its separate from what Colin is doing, regardless of who is on the football team.Kaepernick refused to stand for the national anthem during the preseason as a form of protest against police brutality against people of color. He has said he will continue his protest until he sees significant improvement. The 49ers have not said if they support Kaepernicks form or protest, but the organization is clearly behind his message that change is needed.Whether or not I agree with Colin and his form of protest, it doesnt matter, York told ESPN. I dont think you can argue the facts of the socioeconomic divide that we see, especially in the Bay Area but throughout this country. Thats what we want to turn the focus toward. ...We want to help bridge the gap and create better dialogue, better communication, better collaboration between law enforcement and the local communities, and continue the efforts that weve taken (through the teams charitable foundation) to keep kids safe, on track and in school in our communities --- and also figure out, What else do we do? Do we create better public-private partnerships? Do we fund some of the groups that are already on the ground? Do we find new things that need to take place? Thats what were focused on. We dont know what the end result will be, but I know were going to get the right people in the room and start laying a plan out and figure out how we can accomplish this goal. York said the donation is something thats going to be ongoing. Addressing education, health care, homelessness and after-school programs are some of the pillars of the 49ers foundation, and York said addressing racial and economic issues is equally important. This is one more pillar thats vitally important in our locker room and in our communities, he said.ddddddddddddWe want to make sure that law enforcement -- who are the front line on a lot of these issues, and probably not fairly so -- are put in a position to figure out how we can work with the communities to help tie all of that together to help make our communities a better place. The organizations financial commitment is separate from whatever Kaepernick will do. York has had multiple discussions with Kaepernick about the quarterbacks plans and is supportive of helping him make a difference in the community. But ...Regardless of who is on this football team and for how long, this is an important issue to the 49ers and our community, and its something that were going to stick with for a long time, he said. Its sad that weve gotten off the real topic, that were all debating, What did you think of this persons comment? What did you think of this form of protest? as opposed to a socioeconomic divide thats probably worse in the Bay Area than just about anywhere else in the country.Im on several nonprofit boards, the biggest one probably being Tipping Point Community, which is fighting to end poverty in the Bay Area. In a lot of the work that we do, we see poverty at the grassroots level. And when you look at economic divide, especially here, its approaching the level of developing nations like Guatemala and Rwanda. When you look at the median income in San Francisco for African-Americans its $27,000 a year compared to $89,000 for caucasians, he continued. That in turn can lead to the incarceration rates that we see in this state where its almost nine times as likely that an African-American will be imprisoned as a Caucasian. When you see those numbers, those numbers arent sustainable. The median income gap is more than double the national average. We need to address those things, and thats why I really want to make sure were doing something about those things. Thats why I want to make sure were focusing on the issues as opposed to the form of protest. Also on Thursday, Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy donated $100,000 to the recently founded Green Bay Police Foundation. My goal is be part of the solution to make our community better, said McCarthy, whose father served as a police officer in Pittsburgh for eight years and a firefighter for 30 years.ESPN Staff Writer Rob Demovsky contributed to this report.
