Less than a year after being investigated by the AFL integrity unit, defender Michael Talia is back in the headlines for the wrong reasons, with Sydney standing the defender down after he was charged with cocaine possession.Talia was traded by the Western Bulldogs to the Swans in October 2015 after he allegedly shared confidential information with his brother and Adelaide defender Daniel before their two teams met in an elimination final. While he was cleared of any wrongdoing, Talia left the Bulldogs on difficult terms to seek a fresh start at the Swans.Talia made his Sydney debut in the round one 80-point thrashing of Collingwood, but suffered a serious foot injury that has kept him on the sidelines ever since. He has resumed running but is still several weeks away from playing and now has another off-field hurdle to negotiate.Talia was arrested in the Sydney suburb of Double Bay early on Sunday morning. The 23-year-old is due to face Waverley Local Court on August 17, after which the AFL will make a decision with the club on any consequences. If the charge is proved, it will count as a strike under the leagues revised two-strikes illicit drugs policy.Swans football manager Tom Harley said the matter involving Talia was extremely disappointing.Hes given us his version of the events, but given its before the courts I wont go into any of that, Harley said.Hes been honest as much as we can ascertain.Harley said Sydneys board and leadership group were among the parties involved in the decision to stand down Talia. It is an extremely disappointing thing to deal with and the players certainly hold that view as well, Harley said.Sydney are renowned for their strong player driven Bloods culture and standards of behaviour.Harley stressed the Swans action to stand Talia down was an interim measure and not a judgment on the player. Were certainly not pre-empting how it will play out in a legal sense, but from a clubs point of view, we take this matter extremely seriously and therefore thats been the course of action that weve taken, Harley said.Weve taken the path to stand him down as an immediate response, its not a definitive response.Well continue to ask the right questions and make sure we get all the facts before we work out exactly what we do going forward.Harley stressed the club would continue to offer support behind the scenes to Talia. The AFL will wait until the court date has passed before making a decision on what action Talia could face under league rules. LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Linebacker Jerrell Freeman on Monday became the second Chicago Bears player suspended for violating the leagues performance-enhancing drug policy in as many weeks.Freeman was suspended for four weeks and is eligible to return to practice before the Dec. 24 home game against the Washington Redskins. Freeman, in his first year in Chicago after signing as a free agent, leads the Bears with 69 tackles and with 22 assists. He apologized and said he took full responsibility for a mistake with my prescription medication. Last week, wide receiver Alshon Jeffery was suspended four games for the same violation and will be eligible to return for the Dec. 18 game against Green Bay.Obviously it puts us in a tough spot, coach John Fox said a day after his team lost 22-16 to the New York Giants . Thats why you usually see apologies, I think they understand that and its obviously a mistake and one they typically regret. These guys understand all the parameters of the drug testing involved in our league, Fox added. But much like Alshon, we move on and well move on without Jerrell.Despite the pair of suspension in such a short time, Fox said he didnt think it was a problem specific to Chicago. Its an issue everywhere in the league, he said. Thats why we have drug testing in any professional sport or even Olympic sports. It happens, unfortunately.Without Freeman, the Bears will turn to either John Timu or Nick Kwiatkoski alongside Danny Trevathan at inside linebacker. For me, I know what type of person Jerrell is, Bears tackle Charles Leno Jr. said. He made a mistake, he owned up to it and I forgive him. Its a loss that were going to have on the defensive side of the ball, but that gives opportunitiees for guys like Nick to step up, so Im excited to see Nick play this week if he gets the opportunity, and John Timu.dddddddddddd.The suspensions come at a poor time for the Bears, who lost tight end Zach Miller to a broken right foot against the Giants as they dropped to 2-8. They also lost several other players in the game, including rookie linebacker Leonard Floyd to a scary neck injury. Floyd was put on a stretcher and taken to a hospital.Fox said the teams top draft choice was feeling better and made it to the team charter for the return to Chicago on Sunday night. Fox said its too early to tell whether Floyd could play Sunday at Soldier Field against Tennessee.I think hes got some neck soreness, hes in the concussion protocol, Fox said. The real serious stuff is behind him.Fox also said star right guard Kyle Long will have surgery on his right ankle next Monday. The three-time Pro Bowl lineman was hurt in last weeks loss at Tampa Bay and placed on injured reserve.Fox said Long will have surgery to repair a left shoulder injury he has been dealing with since the preseason in the distant future.Game notes G Josh Sitton (ankle) and CB CreVon LeBlanc (concussion) also were injured Sunday, and Fox had no further news on the severity of their injuries. ... The Bears waived DL Jimmy Staten. In his third season, Staten has not appeared in a regular-season game with the Kansas City Chiefs (2015-16), New England Patriots (2015), New York Giants (2015), Seattle Seahawks (2014-15) and Chicago Bears (2016).---More AP NFL coverage: http://pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP-NFL Wholesale Hoodies NFL Shirts Outlet Jerseys NFL Wholesale Cheap NFL Jerseys Free Shipping Wholesale Jerseys Cheap Cheap NFL Jerseys China Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys ' ' '
