Throughout the Tour de France, Australian professional cyclist Richie Porte will be checking in. Here is his latest entry, as told to ESPN contributor Rupert Guinness:Stage 13: Bourg Saint Andéol to La Caverne du Pont DArc, 37.5km (23.3miles)I only learned about the Nice terrorist attack on Friday morning. What can I say ... Its really shocking. I live in Monaco with my wife Gemma. I train often on the nearby roads. Its not the news anyone wants to wake up to, but I think it puts everything into perspective.?On Thursday we had the problems on Mont Ventoux; but this is only a bike race, and that was put into perspective by the events in Nice. Im thinking of all those affected in Nice.As for what will be the ultimate impact of what happened at Mont Ventoux on Thursday? All I can say is: I pulled up a bit sore, but that is not an excuse for my performance on Friday: the stage 12, 184km km time trial fro Bourg-Saint-en-Andéol to Al Caverne I the Pont DArc.I dont think you can really say the crash on Mont Ventoux had a direct result, especially when we were out on a course so affected by wind. That was the biggest battle out there.Sure, I couldnt really hear the radio, so I wasnt that aware of my time gaps. I went through the first check point with a pretty good time, and from there lost some time on Dutchman Tom Dumoulin (Giant-Alpecin) who eventually won the stage. I was just riding on feel and to be honest it wasnt the best feeling.?It was just such a tough time trial and with the wind thrown in, I dont think anyone could say that they particularly enjoyed that experience. But while initially I wasnt so happy, when I saw the results of the rest of the GC [general classification] guys, I realised I wasnt too far off and had put some time into some of them.Eighth overall at 4:27 to leader Chris Froome (Sky) is better - positionally - than 11th at 2:22. Weve also got a very hard eight stages left and I still think anything can happen. Im taking things one day at a time, but I take confidence that I have been climbing up there with the best and have the legs. The next time trial, 17km stage 18 from Sallanches to Megève on a course that will suit the climbers like me, could be a prime chance to gain back some time. Those spots on the podium are far from decided. I think were in for more fireworks in this next week. For now, Im thinking about recovering and getting back on the bike to race it. Best Nike React Shoes . LUCIE, Fla. LOS ANGELES -- Having been neither traded nor in the starting lineup for more than a week, Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig will finally get some playing time.Puig, who is dealing with his second hamstring issue this season and his fourth in the past two years, is scheduled to be in the starting lineup Sunday for the Dodgers series finale against the Arizona Diamondbacks, manager Dave Roberts said.Puig has not started a game since July 20 at Washington. The following day, after entering that game as a reserve, he tweaked his right hamstring running up the first-base line.?Puig has come to the plate just three times since, including Friday night as a pinch hitter against the Diamondbacks. He was retired each time.I dont feel hes 100 percent, and every day weve given him hes gotten better and better, Roberts said. If theres a chance he could regress, then Im not goiing to put him in there.ddddddddddddIts just balancing the fact I dont think hes a DL, but I dont want to put him in harms way.According to media reports, the Dodgers are listening to teams that might be interested in acquiring Puig, who burst upon the major league scene in 2013, and remained productive into the 2014 season, but has largely underachieved since.A hamstring issue on each leg last year reduced his season to 79 games. Puig batted .255 in 2015 with a .322 on-base percentage and a .436 slugging percentage. He has played 80 games this season around his two hamstring issues, hitting .254/.315/.375.In his 159 games over the past two seasons, Puig has hit a combined 18 home runs with 70 RBIs.The Associated Press contributed to this report.
