NEW ORLEANS -- The Charlotte Hornets and the New Orleans Pelicans will be on the back end of games on consecutive nights when they meet Saturday in the Smoothie King Center. And both are feeling pretty good after the way the front ends went Friday night. The Hornets (8-3) overcame a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit to end the Atlanta Hawks six-game win streak with a 100-96 home victory. At the same time the Pelicans (3-10) were welcoming back Anthony Davis and Jrue Holiday in a 113-101 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers in the Smoothie King Center. The back to backs tell a lot about how much you want to win, Hornets coach Steve Clifford said. Thats what the good teams do. You cant run from it.Charlotte didnt back down when Atlantas Dwight Howard threw an elbow at the head of Hornets center Cody Zeller and was ejected with 5:38 left in Fridays game. The Hawks led by three when Howard was called for the Flagrant-2 foul. The Hornets scored the next nine points, including seven by Kemba Walker, to take control.Zeller, a fourth-year forward, finished with 23 points, making 9 of 10 shots from the field. He gets better every year. He gets better every day, Walker said of Zeller. Skill-wise he gets better and he gets better with his confidence. He works hard each and every day to improve his game. It shows every night.Fridays game started a stretch in which the Hornets play 18 games in 32 days. They wont have consecutive days off until Dec. 17-18.This is a good way to start this stretch, Clifford said. If were a good team, the kind of team that we need to be, then weve got to find a way to play a good game on the road and get a win.Getting wins against the Pelicans has been easy for most teams this season, but the Hornets havent won in New Orleans in their previous three seasons under Clifford.New Orleans entered Fridays game with the worst record in the NBA, but Davis had 38 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Holiday had 21 points and seven assists off the bench as the Pelicans won their second consecutive home game.Their record is misleading, Clifford said. When you look at them play they have had a lot of injuries and theyve lost a lot of close games.Davis returned from a one-game absence with a bruised quad and Holiday made his season debut after being away from the team to be with his wife Lauren as she gave birth to the couples first child and underwent brain surgery.I think I did pretty well, Holiday said of his debut in which he had 10 points and four assists in the fourth quarter. It was really just the initial hit of being out there and in the first four minutes or whatever when I need to get a feel for the game. From there, I just felt more comfortable toward the end of the game.Holiday played 21 minutes and coach Alvin Gentry said he plans to gradually increase Holidays minutes but doesnt have a timetable for when his point guard will return to the starting lineup. Its tough for anyone to sit out all of training camp and all of the preseason and also the first 12 games of the season, Gentry said. Its going to be a little bit of an adjustment period for him. Nike Air Max Norge . Ouellette, from Montreal, already has three Olympic gold medals since joining the team in 1999. RIO DE JANEIRO -- The Usain Bolt Variety Hour hit Brazil, big time, on Monday. The closing number said it all: After talking about life, sprinting and the Olympics -- and yes, Bolt insisted the Rio de Janeiro Games will be his last -- the 6-foot-5 Jamaican pulled out his cell phone and started taking selfies while he shimmied off stage, surrounded by more than a dozen thong-and-headdress-wearing Samba dancers. The evening with Bolt also included his now-immortalized To The World pose, a few serious questions about racing and doping, along with one reporter who said he had no question, but pronounced: I really love you, man, then poetry slammed the following: I hope you win. I hope its your day. I hope you will go even though you get hit by a Segway. The now-famous Segway incident occurred after Bolts victory in the 200 meters last year at the world championships. While taking a victory lap, a multitasking photographer slammed into the back of Bolts legs with his scooter. Bolt bounced up and was no worse for wear.In the lead-up to the Rio Olympics, his legs havent fared as well. He pulled out of his national championships last month with a sore hamstring, which he has been trying to rehabilitate in time to put on a show in Brazil.Bolt takes to the track Saturday for the early rounds of the 100 meters. If he wins the 100, 200 and 4x100 relay, the way he has at the past two Olympics, hell close his Olympic career with nine gold medals.By now, though, its as much about the show as the results, and Bolt said as much Monday night.Im definitely a sprinter first, but I like to entertain, he said. Thats what people come out to see. They like it when I do crazy stuff. I try to entertain and make it different, help people enjoy it.By doing that, he has obliterated the decades-old image of tthe sullen, skulking sprinter -- and has also offered a much-needed breath of fresh air in a sport devoured by doping scandals that have dominated the lead-up to the Olympics.ddddddddddddI think were going in the right direction, Bolt said. I must say, were weeding out the bad ones. I think people should have faith. We have to go through the rough times before we get to the good times.Speaking of which, Bolt hasnt ruled out a goal he set a long time ago -- to better his record of 19.19 seconds in his favorite race, the 200.He has long said he would like to take the record, which stood at 19.32 for 12 years before he first broke it at the Beijing Olympics, into the 18-second range. But the leg injury leading up to the Olympics made it a less-manageable goal to pursue. Then, after his only Olympic tuneup run -- a 200 late last month in London -- he met with coach Glen Mills, who told him, Thats one of the worst races youve ever run, according to Bolt.Still, why not aim high?I really, really, really want that one, Bolt said. And going after dreams is the main message he wants people to take away from his career. For me, its always to work toward your goal, he said. Its a hard road. Never let anyone tell you you cant do it.But as much as sending messages, Bolt pretty much laughed his way through 30 minutes of dance, drama and jokes. He said the only problem he has encountered during his stay in Rio had to do with TV. The apartment hes sharing with teammate Asafa Powell didnt have one.Somebody told us they were going to get it, Bolt said. After two days, I was just, Buy a TV. Im a good teammate. So I got him a TV.As always, keeping the people entertained.? ' ' '
