Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri is keen to ensure their impressive season is not a one-off, despite conceding they are having a strange year. The Foxes have been installed as Premier League title favourites after opening up a five-point lead at the top of the Premier League table following last weekends 3-1 victory at Manchester City. They face another big test of their title credentials in a Super Sunday clash at third-placed Arsenal on Sunday, but Ranieri said his aims have not changed since his summer appointment at the King Power Stadium. Leicester Citys 3-1 win over Manchester City has no significance at all says Claudio Ranieri When I signed, our objective was clear - to build this team, gradually bringing it to the top spots, Ranieri told Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport. We know were having a strange year, were doing well because the big teams havent found their rhythm, but our plans wont change next year beyond what happens at the end of this season. Vardy has a unique characteristic, he runs at 1,000 miles an hour and always at the same speed. Claudio Ranieri on Jamie Vardy We must continue to build to target, in the next three or four years, the top spots in the Premier League and fighting for the Europa League. If we do all this in advance in one year we mustnt applaud ourselves, next year well start again from scratch.Asked about comparisons with the success of smaller clubs in Italy, Ranieri replied: Are we like Foggia, Chievo and Empoli? Its a similar story for the feelings it provokes, but there isnt much of a comparison with the three Italian teams from a strictly football point of view.Foggia, Chievo and Empoli were built over time, while we were born immediately. Leicester only just survived relegation last season after an incredible finish to their campaign in which they won seven of their closing nine matches under previous manager Nigel Pearson.Ranieri was a surprise choice to succeed Pearson following his ill-fated spell in charge of the Greece national team but Leicester have lost only twice in the Premier League since his appointment.Leicester have impressed as a unit but Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy have provided their main attacking threat, scoring 32 Premier League goals between them. This year Mahrez has given us incredible magic, added Ranieri. Technically I dont know who he resembles, he has immense quality and is our reference point: when we need to create, we give the ball to him. Jamie Vardy has scored 18 times for the Foxes this season Vardy on the other hand has a unique characteristic, he runs at 1,000 miles an hour and always at the same speed.Watch Arsenal v Leicester City, the opening game of a Super Sunday triple bill. LONDON -- Arsenal relied on Santi Cazorlas stoppage-time penalty to secure a 2-1 victory over Southampton on Saturday after another unconvincing display from the London club as it chases a first Premier League title since 2004.Faced with dropping points in its first home game since losing to Liverpool in the opening round, Arsenal benefited from a favorable refereeing decision 30 seconds after the clock hit 90 minutes. Jose Fonte dragged down Olivier Giroud with a tug on the strikers shirt, referee Robert Madley pointed to the spot, and Cazorla converted. Its a relief, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said. When you lose your first home game you cannot afford to drop points in the second home game because it creates a little bit an anxiety level at home and thats not what you really want.Arsenal fell behind in clumsy circumstances in the 18th minute. Dusan Tadics free kick was pushed onto the crossbar by Petr Cech but the ball came back down off the Arsenal goalkeepers back and into the net.Arsenal hadnt managed a shot on target until that point. The hosts did score with their first effort in the 29th and it was a memorable way for Laurent Koscielny to mark his 31st birthday. In the goalmouth, the defender arched his body, connected with the ball with hiis right boot, and acrobatically kicked it over his head into the goal.ddddddddddddWe had a little bit of a slow start, after 20 minutes we were 1-0 down, so we came back well into the game and we had a good response, Wenger said. In the second half, I felt we dominated well again, created many dangerous situations, but couldnt score. After picking up only one win from its first three games, it looked like being another frustrating day for Arsenal until Cazorlas late intervention. The Gunners have now reeled off back-to-back wins but they remain five points behind leader Manchester City and looking far from being title challengers.Southampton remains without a win four games into the season and new manager Claude Puel is frustrated that his team has conceded three penalties. This is too much, Puel said, avoiding criticizing Saturdays referee. I want to stay with the positives of this game. We played the first 30 minutes fantastic. Good football, good possibilities.Southampton hosts Sparta Prague in the Europa League on Thursday.
