Alongside Patrick DiMarco Youth Tremaine Edmunds Jerseys , Pro Football Reference has fourteen other players listed that had at least one rushing attempt from the fullback spot. Right there next to DiMarco are such illustrious fullback names like “Ray-Ray McCloud.” The fact that the list is heavily peppered with “not-fullbacks” who took an occasional snap from the backfield shows exactly what the NFL thinks of the position. We’ll do our usual review for DiMarco, but the underlying question is less one of talent and more about seeing if there’s a need for a fullback at all. Play 1If you followed the weekly snap counts, it’s no secret I felt Patrick DiMarco was underutilized. On a team struggling to protect their quarterback(s), a competent pass-protecting back felt like a good idea to me. DiMarco likes to step into his opponent rather than sitting back and he’s competent doing so. It didn’t impact this play with the ball exiting quickly, but DiMarco would have given Josh Allen extra time had he needed it. Play 2A benefit of a fullback instead of a lineman can be that sharp pop to disrupt the pass rush followed by a safety-valve route. Josh Allen trips on the play, but if he hadn’t Patrick DiMarco was one of a few good options to throw to. As a note, this game will be heavily featured as DiMarco played more snaps in the season finale than he did in the next two highest games combined. To put it in perspective, the second game against the Miami Dolphins represents more than 1/5th of his season on offense. Play 3DiMarco’s block keeps Chris Ivory’s initial lane wide enough to maintain good momentum. DiMarco stuffs Evander Hood. While this isn’t a household name, Hood is a 300+ pound defensive tackle who gains no ground on the 234-pound fullback. At times DiMarco seemed like the most stalwart lineman on the Buffalo Bills. Play 4Sometimes the play design appeared to call for some misdirection, other times it appeared poor decision-making was at work. Either way, quite often Patrick DiMarco’s lead blocks weren’t followed. Looking at just what DiMarco did, it’s solid work. Play 5I wouldn’t want to suggest DiMarco is flawless—sometimes he loses a match-up. After he makes a good decision to cut back and try to open the inside lane for LeSean McCoy, DiMarco doesn’t demonstrate his finest block. DiMarco maybe gets enough of his man where Shady would have been able to make it work. Had Wyatt Teller maintained his block a little better, we’d have known for sure. Play 6Patrick DiMarco doesn’t give up an inch and actually drives Mike Hull back. DiMarco’s initial blocks look a lot like Chris Ivory’s with the quick pop to start things off. When blocks need to be maintained Tremaine Edmunds Jerseys Stitched , DiMarco uses a little more hand-fighting as shown here. Neither should be necessarily known for that skill, but DiMarco is slightly more versatile when a longer block is needed. Play 7Patrick DiMarco is a little smaller than what many might think of for a fullback. He’s also a bit quicker than many fullbacks and does a good job with his move block here. This wasn’t a staple for the Bills’ offense, but DiMarco seems capable of this role as well. Play 8There’s not a lot that’s special about this play from DiMarco. He does a solid job slipping out and looking for the pass. His speed is fine and he takes a good angle once the ball is in his hand. He does seem adept at finding soft spots in the defense, but his passing grade has to be an incomplete. This play represents a full 25% of throws tossed DiMarco’s way this year. He caught three for 62 yards.Play 9Here in one convenient clip is every single Patrick DiMarco rushing attempt in 2018. And this only happened because every running back was banged up. Summary Patrick DiMarco is a versatile back who can provide enhanced pass protection and safety-outlet options for a developing quarterback. This is in addition to lead blocking that’s ordinarily associated with the fullback position. That said, except for one game, the Brian Daboll offense doesn’t seem enamored with fullbacks. If a solid tight end or developmental prospect they’d like to tinker with is available, DiMarco’s days could be numbered in Buffalo. A big positive for DiMarco is that a potential replacement will need to slot cleanly into special teams play as well, where DiMarco did see more significant time. I’ll close with a chart that’s likely nothing more than fun coincidence—a correlation rather than causation kinda deal. Still though, if I’m Patrick DiMarco’s agent, I’m likely making this thing into a banner. Quickly explained, the chart tracks DiMarco’s playing time each week along with the points scored by the team. PITTSFORD, N.Y. (AP) — Before making the five-hour drive from Cleveland to Buffalo’s training camp, receiver Corey Coleman was advised to leave behind the baggage of his two seasons with the Browns. The injuries, dropped passes Andre Reed Jersey , and constant reminders of how Coleman failed to play to the Browns’ first-round draft-pick expectations can all be set aside. The Bills are offering him a clean slate.“We all go through things in life that don’t go our way,” Bills general manager Brandon Beane said Monday, a day after acquiring Coleman in a trade. “I don’t know all what went right or wrong for Corey in Cleveland. But we view it as a fresh start here to earn and compete.”For the relatively small price of a 2020 seventh-round draft pick, Beane took what he called a “low-risk” gamble in a bid to add breakaway speed and play-making potential to one of his team’s most unsettled positions. In Cleveland, first-year GM John Dorsey parted ways with a player who came to symbolize the overall dysfunction of the Browns’ previous regime.By trading down in the draft order to select Coleman with the 15th pick in the 2016 draft, the Browns passed on an opportunity to choose eventual Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback Carson Wentz.Hand injuries limited Coleman to playing just 19 games, during which he caught 56 of the 131 passes thrown in his direction for 718 yards and five touchdowns. That was a significant drop in production for a player who scored an NCAA-leading 20 touchdowns receiving and led the Big 12 with 1,363 yards receiving at Baylor in 2015.Coleman’s tenure in Cleveland will be best remembered for his drop late in the fourth quarter in last season’s finale at Pittsburgh that sealed the Browns’ 0-16 finish.None of that now matters in Buffalo, where the Bills lack established depth at receiver behind starter Kelvin Benjamin.Including Benjamin, acquired in a mid-season trade from Carolina, Buffalo’s four returning receivers combined for 57 catches for 681 yards and six touchdowns last season. Jeremy Kerley, an eighth-year player, was the team’s most notable offseason free-agent addition, while the Bills also used two late-round draft picks to select Ray-Ray McCloud III and Austin Proehl.Beane revisited previous discussions he had with the Browns regarding Coleman Womens Shaq Lawson Jersey , and elected to make the trade two weeks into training camp.“I just thought now was the opportunity to get him in here to start learning this offense versus waiting any longer,” he said.Nothing, however, is guaranteed.“He’s not going to automatically get anything,” Beane said. “He’s got to come here and compete. That’s what I told him on the phone last night.”Pending a physical, Coleman is expected to make his practice debut Tuesday. It’s too early to determine whether he’ll play in Buffalo’s preseason-opener against Carolina on Thursday.Kerley welcomed the added competition Coleman brings to the Bills.“Here, it’s a better opportunity for him to compete. It’s a better opportunity for everyone. Competition is good,” Kerley said. “It’s going to definitely help us boost up a little bit.”As for Coleman’s past, Kerley said the best advice is to forget it.“Whatever happened in Cleveland, that’s over with,” Kerley said. “You’re in a different place, a different atmosphere, different coaches, different situation. You kind of get to redeem yourself.”The trade caught Coleman’s now-former teammate http://www.thebillslockerroom.com/authentic-logan-thomas-jersey , receiver Jarvis Landry, by surprise. The three-time Pro Bowler, who came to Cleveland in a March trade from Miami, mentored Coleman during their few months together. Landry convinced the 24-year-old to change his diet and schooled him on what it takes to succeed.“Just continue to work hard, continue to grind at it,” said Landry, who spoke to Coleman after the trade became official. “I think he’s got a great grasp of that. And who knows, maybe in Buffalo that continues to carry over, and he has a hell of a career.”Coleman also had issues off the field. He was named in a police report regarding an alleged felonious assault last year, but never charged. He was also sent home from the Browns’ trip to Houston for missing curfew while he was injured. The Bills were assured Coleman doesn’t face possible NFL disciplinary action resulting from the alleged assault.

The Giants needed pass rush help off the edge, and they felt Ximines could provide it.The Giants were 30th in the NFL in sacks last season. They traded their best EDGE player in 2018, Olivier Vernon, to the Cleveland Browns. Connor Barwin, Kerry Wynn, Josh Mauro and Mario Edwards are no longer Giants. Ximines racked up 12 sacks, 18.5 tackles for loss and 4 forced fumbles playing for Old Dominion last season.“We need pass rush help,” Gettleman said. “We feel we have really addressed it with Dexter Lawrence and this kid. We got inside pass rush help and we got outside pass rush help. The quicker you get to the passer, the less time corners have to cover and good stuff happens.” Why the 6-foot-3, 253-pound Ximines rather than any of the other available EDGE players? GM Dave Gettleman and coach Pat Shurmur explained the pick shortly after it was made.“Oshane Ximines, ‘X-Man’ – he’s a scheme fit for us. He’s a guy that’s played a lot of football – 48 starts, has been very productive, many sacks. He’s got a good first step. He’s a good edge player. I think he’s going to be a real good fit for our defense in base Harry Carson Jerseys Stitched , as well as in nickel,” Shurmur said. “Not to mention, as good a player as he is, as productive as he is, he’s an even better person. He’s going to be another real good scheme fit for our locker room. I called him to tell him we were going to draft him, and he quickly said hello and dropped the phone. He’s probably as excited a player to hear that he was going to be a New York Football Giant as anybody that I’ve called in the last couple years.”The Giants did not have a pick in Round 2 after their trade up to No. 30 in Round 1 to select cornerback Deandre Baker. They felt like they got a second-round player in Ximines, though, as Gettleman said the Giants “had a second round value on him, the bottom of the second.”The Giants considered moving up for Ximines“As the board was breaking, we started talking with about 14 or 15 picks left,” Gettleman said. “Bottom line is, we were thinking about trading up, but I said no, we’ll hold our water because I didn’t want to give up our four (fourth-round pick) or two fives (fifth-round pick) for tomorrow Youth Lawrence Taylor Jerseys , because of what our board looks like. So, he was a target for sure.”Gettleman said the Giants seriously considered moving up about a half-dozen spots before their 95th pick.“We were at No. 95, and we were thinking six could get us up to No. 90, get us up five spots, but let’s just hold our water for now, and I’m glad we did,” he said. What will Ximines’ role be?Gettleman made it clear that the Giants believe Ximines is “not a designated pass rusher. He’s a legit three-down player.”Shurmur said that Ximines has the versatility to play in both odd and even fronts?“He’s an edge player for us, so he would play the outside ‘backer spot for us when we are five on the line,” he said. “We can take the nose out and he’s a pass rusher in a four-man front. He can be a three-down player.”A little Osi?Ximines forced 11 fumbles over the past three seasons. A speed-rushing defensive end who forces fumbles? Of course he drew comparisons to former Giants great Osi Umenyiora.“He has some stuff. As Pat said, the forcing of the fumbles has a lot to do with length and arm length and a knack, which he has,” Gettleman said. “He’s got some things he’s gotta polish up before we put him in that category. To answer your question, the kid really [has] legitimate pass rush ability.”Small school transitionThe Giants aren’t worried about Ximines’ ability to handle the transition to a much higher level of competition.“The litmus test is he went to Old Dominion, he went to ODU. It’s a Division I program Lawrence Taylor Jerseys Stitched , but obviously it’s not a Power Five. He’s at Old Dominion, so you say to yourself, would this kid start in the ACC? Could he possibly start in the SEC? You think about those things, and he can,” Gettleman said. “The interesting thing about him is because he’s played so much and the kind of kid he is, as Pat said, he has legitimate counter pass rushing ability, counter pass rushing moves. “Most of the kids coming out of college have their move when they come off the ball, or they come of the ball they know what they want to do, and if the tackle thwarts them, they don’t know what to do. They’re not power rushers, they get stuck. Oshane can counter punch, which is what made (Broncos LB Bradley) Chubb so special last year.” Giants giving ex-SU quarterback a look at tight end" />Skip to main contentclockmenumore-arrownoyesHorizontal - WhiteBig Blue Viewa New York Giants communityLog In or Sign UpLog InSign UpFanpostsFanshotsSectionsLibraryGiantsOddsAboutMastheadCommunity GuidelinesStubHubMoreAll 322 blogs on Horizontal - WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections New York Giants NewsGiants Training Camp 2016Giants vs. Eagles 2015, Week 17Filed under:New York Giants NewsGiants’ 90-man roster: Eric Dungey trying to make transition to hybrid roleNew Womens Phil Simms Jersey ,89commentsGiants giving ex-SU quarterback a look at tight endEDTShareTweetShareShareGiants’ 90-man roster: Eric Dungey trying to make transition to hybrid roleEric DungeyPhoto by Joe Robbins/Getty ImagesThe NFL is often called a copycat league. Someone comes up with an idea — a play, a scheme, a formation, a style — that works and other teams try to implement their own versions. Thus, the success of the New Orleans Saints in taking an athletic college quarterback, Taysom Hill, and turning him into a multi-faceted offensive weapon who can be used running, receiving and throwing is something other teams would like to duplicate. The New York Giants, with undrafted former Syracuse quarterback Eric Dungey in the hybrid role, are one of the teams trying to find their own version of Hill. Let’s look closer at Dungey as we continue profiling the 90 players the Giants will bring to training camp. The basicsHeight: 6-foot-3Weight: 220Age: 22Position: QB/TEExperience: 0How he got hereIn a year considered to be a down one for the overall quarterback class, Dungey was not one of the 11 quarterbacks deemed draft-worthy by NFL teams. The Giants, though, wanted Dungey badly enough that head coach Pat Shurmur got on the phone to try and entice him to choose the Giants.“He was a key guy, a guy that we targeted Harry Carson Jersey ,” Shurmur said. The pitch worked:For what it’s worth, here is a statistical comparison of the college careers of Dungey and Hill.Passing Dungey Year School G Cmp Att Pct Yds TD Int Rate201520162017*2018Career Provided by CFB at Sports ReferenceHillYear School G Cmp Att Pct Yds TD Int Rate*2012*2013*2014*2015*2016Career Provided by CFB at Sports ReferenceRushingDungeyYear School G Att Yds Avg TD201520162017*2018Career Provided by CFB at Sports ReferenceHillYear School G Att Yds Avg TD*2012*2013*2014*2015*2016Career Provided by CFB at Sports Reference2019 outlook So, now the question is can Dungey make the transition?“He is a very accomplished quarterback and made a lot of plays with his feet,” Shurmur said. “We will see. I think he is a good football player. Usually there is a place on the field for good football players. We will see what happens.”At just 220 pounds and never having blocked before, a traditional tight end role is likely out of the question for Dungey. To be honest, it’s probably unrealistic to expect Dungey to push for a spot on the 53-man roster initially. Hill took a full year in New Orleans to learn the role, and was an impact player in his second season.Perhaps that should be the template for Dungey. If he shows promise in the hybrid role, a practice squad spot in 2019 would seem logical as he learns the finer points of what the Giants are asking him to do.

ORCHARD PARK Andre Tippett Jerseys 2019 , N.Y. (AP) — Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton doesn’t believe he could have scripted a better visit to Buffalo on Sunday. The donation he made to Buffalo’s Roswell Park Cancer Institute to open the day was special. The two standing ovations he received from Bills fans before the preseason game were chilling. And Dalton was able to keep his emotions in check on the first snap from scrimmage to hit John Ross for a 57-yard touchdown pass in leading the Bengals to a 26-13 victory.“It was a good day. I think the way it started was the best part,” Dalton said. “The game went well, too.”The Bills could not say the same about their offense, and a three-way quarterback competition that remains unsettled.Rookie Josh Allen struggled in his first preseason start , while getting little protection from an offensive line that allowed five sacks in the first half alone. He finished 6 of 12 and was sacked for more yards (39) than he had passing (34).“I didn’t do a good enough job getting the ball out on time,” the first-round pick said. “I’ve got to do a better job, but there’s a lot to learn from.”Dalton eased whatever concerns the starters raised with their sputters in last week’s 21-13 win at Dallas by producing three scoring drives — two touchdowns and a field goal — over five series against the Bills.Dalton finished 11 of 16 for 180 yards and two touchdowns — including a 14-yarder to A.J. Green — to celebrate the warm reception he received in Buffalo nine months after playing a key role in the Bills making the playoffs and ending a 17-year playoff drought. It happened in the final minute of the season finale against Baltimore on New Year’s Eve. Dalton’s 49-yard touchdown pass on fourth down to Tyler Boyd sent the Bengals to a 31-27 win, and eliminated the Ravens from playoff contention.Bills fans responded immediately by making over $450,000 to Dalton’s charitable foundation.“It’s a crazy story, and it’s been fun to be on this side of it,” Dalton said. “The best part is all the money that was raised.”Buffalo’s offense continues to raise concerns two weeks before opening the regular season at Baltimore.Allen generated just three first downs before being forced out of the game in the final minute of the first half. He was escorted off the field to be evaluated for a possible concussion after being tackled by Carlos Dunlap in the end zone.Though Allen was cleared to return White John Hannah Jerseys , he stayed on the sideline while Nathan Peterman finished the game. This was a week after the starters went three-and-out in four series and starter AJ McCarron was sacked once and hit several other times before being sidelined with an injury to his right throwing shoulder in a 19-17 win at Cleveland.“It’s disappointing,” Bills coach Sean McDermott said. “We’re going to make sure we’re helping him with protection and catching the football and not beating ourselves with penalties. Let’s just start there.”SACK ATTACKLinebacker Carl Lawson had 2 1/2 of the Bengals five sacks in the first half, and nearly had an interception. He was in position to pick off Allen’s underthrown pass up the right sideline only to have tight end Charles Clay break it up.PETERMAN TIMEThe Bengals led 23-0 before the Bills mounted a comeback with two scores late in the third quarter.Peterman hit Jason Croom for a 17-yard touchdown, and then Travaris Cadet scored on a 1-yard run on a drive set up by Rafael Bush intercepting Bengals backup Matt Barkley’s pass. Peterman finished 16 of 21 for 200 yards, and upped his preseason total to 33 of 41 for 432 yards with three touchdowns and an interception.WELCOME BACKBengals tight end Tyler Eifert had one catch for 11 yards while targeted three times in making his preseason debut. The Bengals’ 2013 first-round draft pick is coming off back surgery and was limited to playing just two games last year.INJURIESBengals: Left tackle Cordy Glenn stood on the sideline, but did not return after hurting his right shoulder in the first quarter. Coach Marvin Lewis said Glenn was fine. Guard Christian Westerman (back) and running back Jarveon Williams (left knee) did not return.Bills: Backup linebacker Julian Stanford did not return after hurting his nose in the first half. RB LeSean McCoy (hip/groin) and left tackle Dion Dawkins (hip) did not play after being injured in practice this week.ANTHEM UPDATEThe Bengals stood together along the sideline except for Dunlap, who stood on the field at the 45 with his hand on his chest. Along the way, the 2009 second-round draft selection picked up 90 starts, a second-team All-Pro nomination, and a Super Bowl ring (he earned another one after the 2016 season that he spent on injured reserve). And while Vollmer stepped away from the game in May 2017, he still remains active promoting it.Last month, for example, the 35-year-old appeared at an NFL-sponsored event in his native Germany. Spox’s Adrian Franke used the opportunity to catch up with Vollmer and also to speak with him about his former team — and it sure looks like the long-term Patriot is feeling confident about New England heading into the 2019 season. “I still have to see the Patriots no longer being strong in order to actually believe it,” he said. The Patriots, of course, are once again coming off a Super Bowl win and Vollmer thinks they remain the team to beat despite some notable offseason departures. “You have to get by the reigning champions White Irving Fryar Jerseys , and the Patriots have proven it time and again. By now, they are almost that good that they have to prove they no longer are. After all, it’s the same story each year: players X, Y and Z are gone, [Tom] Brady is old — and at the end of the day, they are still winning,” he said.Arguably the biggest of those aforementioned departures is Rob Gronkowski, a teammate of Vollmer’s for seven seasons. The future Hall of Fame tight end announced his retirement in March, but comeback rumors started to emerge shortly afterwards. Vollmer, however, does not see Gronkowski return any time soon: “I don’t think Irving Fryar Jerseys 2019 , he will come back again. Just looking at his physical shape, I don’t think he’d be able to pull it off.”Vollmer also added that he always thought that Gronkowski and the soon-to-be 42-year-old Brady would ride off into the sunset together. Now, however, that outlook has changed. “To be honest: no idea,” answered Vollmer when talking about the quarterback’s potential retirement date. “He keeps saying that he will play until 45, but I wonder why. I’m giving him two more years — but not because he told me, I’m just going with my gut. Who knows?”The long-time offensive lineman also spoke about another senior member of the Patriots organization, assistant coach Dante Scarnecchia who worked with Vollmer for all but two of his seasons in the NFL. Scarnecchia, of course, is widely regarded as the premier offensive line coach in the league and his former pupil gave some insight into what makes him such an outstanding presence on the sidelines and in the meeting room.“He is absolutely detail-oriented,” said Vollmer. “You only have to options with him: either you quit or you get better. There is no in-between. And that’s what happens White James White Jerseys , actually, some retire because they can’t handle the pressure. If you no longer can, you’ll just be let go. There’s an enormous pressure, but he is so good at what he does. He doesn’t accept any knickknack, any mistakes.”

while considering where he’d make his next playmaking moves.Well-rested Lac Edwards Jerseys 2019 , motivated and armed with a new contract, the star running back is joining Sam Darnold and the New York Jets.Bell agreed to a deal early Wednesday morning, a person with direct knowledge of the negotiations told The Associated Press. The decision ended months of speculation about where he’d resume his playing career after six years with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because teams can’t officially announce signings until the start of the new league year Wednesday afternoon.ESPN first reported the signing, and said the deal is for four years and $52.5 million — including $35 million guaranteed.Bell, a former Michigan State star, also announced his decision on Twitter , saying: “I’m back in the green baby, let’s get it.”Several teams were mentioned throughout the past few days as having interest in signing Bell, with the Jets consistently among them. Many football fans and reporters took to their computers to download the new album released at midnight by the running back — who goes by the stage name “Juice” — to glean any potential clues in his lyrics he might have included about his next football destination. The news, however, came as many were in between tracks. And, Bell was immediately a big-time hit among the Jets and their fans.“Welcome my brutha @LeVeonBell White James Carpenter Jerseys ,” linebacker Avery Williamson tweeted.“I’m in Miami brotha,” safety Jamal Adams tweeted at Bell. “We going up tonight!!!”The deal gives Darnold and new coach Adam Gase a big-time playmaker, arguably the best player at his position before Bell opted to sit out all of last season rather than sign a franchise tender with Pittsburgh. The 27-year-old Bell is a two-time AP All-Pro selection and three-time Pro Bowl pick who immediately upgrades the Jets’ backfield.New York still has Isaiah Crowell, Elijah McGuire and Trenton Cannon, but Crowell is likely to be released after one season with the team. Bilal Powell, the team’s fourth-round pick in 2011, is a free agent and unlikely to be back.Bell has rushed for 5,336 yards and 35 touchdowns, and has 312 catches for 2,660 yards and seven scores as one of the most versatile and dangerous offensive players in the NFL. His 128.9 yards from scrimmage per game over his career is the best mark in the NFL since the 1970 merger.Bell’s career reached a crossroads, however, last year when he declined to sign his one-year James Carpenter Jerseys 2019 , $14.4 million franchise tender with the Steelers and made himself ineligible to play. It was an unprecedented move as Bell — who received the franchise tag in two straight years — skipped a season in his prime to preserve his long-term health and secure a big payday.Last month, Pittsburgh decided to not place the transition tag on Bell. That cleared the running back to become an unrestricted free agent when the NFL’s new year begins Wednesday. And the Jets pounced on a player they think can help Darnold take their offense to another level — despite the fact Bell hasn’t played since Pittsburgh’s playoff loss to Jacksonville on Jan. 14, 2018. That means it will be a span of 19 months in between game appearances by the time the preseason begins in August. The Steelers drafted Bell with the 48th overall pick in 2013. He combined with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and wide receiver Antonio Brown to form Pittsburgh’s “Killer B’s” on offense, a potent trio of game-breaking talents. With his patient running style and explosive burst, Bell quickly established himself as one of the best backs in the league. He was also a top pass-catcher out of the backfield, finishing 10th in the league with 85 catches in 2017. That combination of production had Bell focused on a contract that rewarded him like the dual threat he is.He and the Steelers failed to reach an agreement on a new deal last summer, and he skipped training camp for the second straight year. This time, though, he never returned to the team.Instead, he’ll join the Jets and look to re-establish himself as arguably the best overall running back in the game — and try to help a franchise that hasn’t been to the playoffs since the 2010 season get back to winning. The move to get Bell was the latest in a busy two days for general manager Mike Maccagnan and the Jets, who also have agreed to deals with linebacker C.J. Mosley, wide receivers Jamison Crowder and Josh Bellamy White Buster Skrine Jerseys , and are re-signing defensive end Henry Anderson and backup cornerback Darryl Roberts. FLOWERY BRANCH Discount Alexander Mattison Jersey , Ga. (AP) — The Atlanta Falcons have a new backup plan if punter Matt Bosher hasn’t recovered from a groin injury by Sunday’s game at Indianapolis.Matt Wile worked on punts and kickoffs on Wednesday, one day after he was signed to the practice squad. Wile was Minnesota’s punter in 2018 , and he spent time with the Falcons in 2016. He was cut by the Vikings in the preseason.“Having experience not only here but elsewhere was a big piece of it,” said Falcons coach Dan Quinn of the decision to sign Wile following punter auditions.Bosher also normally handles kickoffs and is the holder on field goals and extra points. The Falcons were forced to consider dramatic last-minute adjustments after Bosher strained his groin during warmups before last week’s win over Philadelphia . Kicker Matt Bryant had to handle kickoffs, a duty he hasn’t regularly held in a decade. Bosher punted despite being obviously limited by the injury. The Falcons even had wide receiver Mohamed Sanu practice kickoffs in pregame warmups. How close was Sanu to kicking off?“Pretty close,” Sanu said.“It would have been cool. It would have been fun. It would have been like Pop Warner again. That’s the last time I kicked off.”That’s not the sort of pregame drama a coach enjoys.Quinn remained optimistic that Bosher could be active against the Colts. He said he’ll give Bosher the full week to recover.“We definitely have confidence in Bosh as the punter but we’ll see what it looks like at the end of the week,” Quinn said. “I have confidence. I would never bet against Bosher in any way.”Bosher has missed only one game in nine seasons in Atlanta. His career average of 45.7 yards per punt is a franchise record. The Falcons would have to have full confidence in Bosher to avoid a repeat of the field-advantage setbacks caused by the makeshift kicking plan last week. The longest of Bosher’s three punts carried only 42 yards, and none of Bryant’s kickoffs reached the end zone.Bosher attended Wednesday’s practice Stitched Olisaemeka Udoh Jersey , but did not participate while Wile handled the punts in the sessions open to reporters.“I’m just training and preparing like I’m going to play, but I don’t know exactly what is going to happen,” Wile said.Wile has experience kicking off and holding on extra points and field goals. He said he “felt pretty good hitting” kickoffs on Wednesday. What do the big names think of the selection?" Over the next two weeks Jace Sternberger Jersey 2019 , Acme Packing Company will break down each position group on the Green Bay Packers and provide insight into how they performed during the 2018 season. Today, we examine the cornerbacks.During Ted Thompson’s final draft and Brian Gutekunst’s first as general manager, the Green Bay Packers tried to rebuild their secondary. That process extended to free agency, where the team brought back veteran corner Davon House after a two-year sabbatical as well as a mid-season signing of Bashaud Breeland. While both House and Breeland hit free agency this offseason, their trajectories appear decidedly different.Bashaud BreelandNFL experience: Five yearsFree-agent status: UnrestrictedExpiring contract: One-year, $790 Color Rush Jace Sternberger Jersey ,000 ($90,000 guaranteed)2018 stats: 20 tackles, four breakups, two interceptions, one fumble recovery, one touchdownThe Packers will enter next season with Jaire Alexander Cheap Jace Sternberger Jersey , Kevin King, and Josh Jackson atop the cornerback depth chart in some order. That doesn’t preclude the team from re-signing Breeland, who made an impact on the defense during his partial season in Green Bay. Breeland generated multiple turnovers while providing valuable depth when injuries decimated the secondary.Breeland has his flaws. His lack of top-line speed and recent history lower-body injuries (a foot infection and lingering hamstring trouble in 2018) could prevent him from holding down a starting role. That could ultimately work in the Packers’ favor, limiting his market and allowing the front office to bring him back at a palatable price.Davon HouseNFL experience: Eight yearsFree-agent status: UnrestrictedExpiring contract: One-year, $915,000 ($90 Jace Sternberger Jersey Womens ,000 guaranteed)2018 stats: Two tacklesThe Packers didn’t intend for Davon House to earn a large role when they re-signed the veteran corner in the offseason. House technically lived up to expectations, though not for the desired reasons. He landed on injured reserve in September with a shoulder injury and never returned.Injured or not, House seems unlikely to return to return in 2019. The young depth built up over the past few years along with the veteran’s own injury woes strongly signal that the end has arrived for House, at least in Green Bay.Packers CB Kevin King questionable to return with groin injury The Green Bay Packers’ secondary has been impressive so far, but things will be more difficult moving forward as cornerback Kevin King is currently out with a groin injury. The team announced early in the third quarter that he is questionable to return.Davon House has been playing outside since King left the game.House is a longtime veteran on his second stint with the Packers, but he was extremely ineffective last season Jace Sternberger Green Bay Packer , and given his position on the depth chart this season, the team know it. House will likely be a frequent target of Kirk Cousins and the Vikings if King cannot return.Rookies Jaire Alexander and Josh Jackson have been excellent in both coverage and rushing the passer, and Tramon Williams has been solid, holding the Minnesota receivers in check, and the safeties have been adequate. Minnesota has really only had success targeting backs and tight ends matched up on linebackers. Cousins has been effective targeting weak points, and a big weak point just walked on to the field.

that defensive success played a big part in the team taking the NFC North title. It also played a big part in the Broncos targeting and eventually hiring Vic Fangio as their new head coach. The Bears responded by hiring former Colts head coach Chuck Pagano as the new defensive coordinator. The team’s players are in their second week of working with Pagano and two key members of the defense shared the feeling that not much will change. Linebacker Roquan Smith said it will be an “easy transition” from one coach to another and defensive tackle Akiem Hicks had a similar take on the direction of the defense.“No step back http://www.packerslockerroom.com/authentic-jk-scott-jersey , no step back; we’re always going forward,” Hicks said, via the . “There’s always going to be an adjustment period anytime you have new people in the building. I don’t think we have to take a step back. We just have to hit it harder.”The Bears lost a couple of defensive backs to free agency in safety Adrian Amos and cornerback Bryce Callahan Kevin King Jersey , but the other regulars from last season are back. Safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and cornerback Buster Skrine were signed to fill those roles and help ensure that the defense doesn’t miss a beat in Chicago. It’s possible — albeit unlikely — that neither the Green Bay Packers nor Detroit Lions could have 46 healthy players on Sunday for their week five matchup at Ford Field. On the two teams’ Friday injury reports, there were a total of 19 players listed: nine for Green Bay and ten for Detroit.Of those players, four are listed as out Marquez Valdes-Scantling Jersey White , with Randall Cobb the only Packer sure to miss the contest. The Lions have a pair of starters down: defensive end Ziggy Ansah and guard T.J. The Packers may still have the services of wideouts Davante Adams and Geronimo Allison, as both were in the questionable group as well. EAGAN Dalvin Cook Jersey , Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings have hired Gary Kubiak as an assistant head coach and offensive adviser, a big bump in experience for Mike Zimmer’s turned-over staff. The Vikings announced the move on Monday night.Kubiak spent the last two seasons as a senior personnel adviser with the Denver Broncos after stepping down as their head coach due to health concerns. Zimmer picked Kevin Stefanski to be his offensive coordinator, his first time in that role. The 57-year-old Kubiak has 10 seasons as a head coach on his NFL resume, eight with the Houston Texans (2006-13) and two with the Broncos (2015-16). They won the Super Bowl in his first year. Kubiak also has been an offensive coordinator for 12 seasons, most recently in 2014 with the Baltimore Ravens. The Vikings also hired his son, Klint Kubiak http://www.thevikingslockerroom.com/authentic-pat-elflein-jersey , as quarterbacks coach and Brian Pariani as tight ends coach. This will be the 23rd year in the last 26 in which Pariani has worked with Gary Kubiak. Klint Kubiak was on Denver’s staff the last three seasons. If they get on the field Friday night — and most of them are expected to play — a handful of former Vikings and current Saints will see some familiar faces on the other side. The Saints have punt returner Marcus Sherels, center Nick Easton, fullback Zach Line, running back Latavius Murray and, of course, quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. This will be the first time Bridgewater has played against the Vikings Womens Harrison Smith Jersey , who drafted him in the first round in 2014 and let him leave as a free agent two years ago after his massive knee injury altered plans to build their offense around him.More Vikings coverageVikings’ Kearse faces gun, drunken driving charges after arrestVikings’ Kearse apologizes, returns to work after weekend arrestPhotos of the Week: 10/20/19 – 10/26/19Vikings surge into second half thanks to Cousins, CookVikings Snap Counts: Penalties spoil Mattison’s big day“I’m proud of him, for him to be able to come back from the type of injury that he had to still be playing in the NFL,” Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said of Bridgewater Jaleel Johnson Jersey , who is competing to be Drew Brees‘ backup. “It was a pretty bleak outlook for him, but that’s the kind of kid he is.“He’ll try and stick it to us, just like we’re going to stick it to him.”Saints coach Sean Payton said Bridgewater is “certainly going to play a lot” in the preseason opener.“I think that a second year into what we’re doing has benefited him and he brings all those other intangibles that allow you to win that are necessary at that position,” Payton said.A priority for the Saints is replacing retired three-time Pro Bowl center Max Unger. Top candidates include rookie Erik McCoy, a second-round draft choice out of Texas A&M; Easton, signed this year as a free agent; and Cameron Tom http://www.thevikingslockerroom.com/authentic-riley-reiff-jersey , a third-year pro who began his NFL career in New Orleans as an undrafted rookie and who has played sparingly as a reserve interior lineman. The stakes are high for Easton, who has a four-year contract worth up to $22.5 million — if he can play well enough to stick around at that price. He also is trying to come back from a neck injury that wiped out his 2018 season.Since Mark Ingram left for Baltimore in free agency, the Saints have been looking for a strong inside rusher who can also catch the ball to complement star running back Alvin Kamara. Murray was signed to potentially fill that role. Returning reserve running back Dwayne Washington is also in the mix.The Vikings will get their first chance to test their new scheme directed by offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski and influenced by offensive adviser Gary Kubiak. Rookie tight end Irv Smith Jr. will likely see significant playing time on his 21st birthday in his hometown, where his father, Irv Smith Sr., once played tight end for the Saints.“He’s swimming Womens Everson Griffen Jersey , because we’re asking a lot of him right now,” Kubiak said, adding: “But that’s the way it should be. That’s why he’s here.”

FLORHAM PARK Trevon Wesco NFL Jersey , N.J. (AP) — Jason Myers kept jogging onto the field to kick one field goal after another.Once, twice, six times.By the time he went out to boot his seventh last Sunday, the New York Jets kicker wasn’t sure how many he had against Denver.Myers just knew there were lots of them.“Someone goes, ‘Man, how many was that?'” a smiling Myers recalled Friday. “I started counting and I lost count.”Totally understandable, of course. That’ll happen when you make a franchise-record seven field goals, the second-most in NFL history. Myers was one shy of the eight by Tennessee’s Rob Bironas in 2007. His 24 total points — seven field goals and three extra points — were just two short of Bironas’ mark for the most in league history by a player who didn’t score a touchdown.“It’s fun to get all that work in,” Myers said. “I didn’t even know where they were from until after the game. But, yeah, it was fun.”Myers got things started with a 30-yarder in the first quarter. He had a 48-yarder in the second and closed the opening half with a 32-yard kick. His 37-yarder in the third quarter gave him four. Then came the fourth quarter, when he made field goals of 45, 37 and 45 yards to help lift the Jets to a 42-34 victory. The Jets’ offense ranks last in the NFL in red-zone efficiency and scored just one touchdown in six opportunities against the Colts, but Myers was there to give them a boost with his busy leg.Myers was also selected the AFC’s special teams player of the week for his performance.“That was really out of the ordinary,” long snapper Thomas Hennessy said. “I think in the fourth quarter Trevon Wesco NFL Draft , we had three or something, so I definitely knew that we were approaching an amount that is not normal.”Myers’ path to the Jets’ record books has also been unusual, with plenty of twists and turns.Just two months ago, he didn’t know if he’d have a job in the NFL after being cut by Seattle. Today, he leads NFL kickers with 63 points and 16 field goals, and is tied with Kansas City’s Harrison Butker for the most touchbacks with 32.“I think the progression of Jason’s career is just awesome and it’s an awesome testament that the guy stuck through it all like that,” Jets special teams coordinator Brant Boyer said. “To see success happen for him, I think it’s really cool because he’s such a great kid and he’s a hard worker. Just seeing him come in and have success, I was proud as hell of him.”The 27-year-old San Diego native grew up playing football, soccer and baseball at Mater Dei Catholic High School, but his success as a kicker had him focused on the gridiron for college. The offers weren’t flooding his mailbox, though.“I was a late bloomer,” he said with a shrug. He considered going to junior college before Marist College — on the other side of the country, tucked in the town of Poughkeepsie, New York — came calling. So Trevon Wesco Buffalo Bills Jersey , Myers traded the sun of southern California for the chilly northeast.“I came out for an official visit and I loved the campus, loved everything,” said Myers, who kicked four seasons for the Red Foxes. The NFL was still a long way off, though, especially after going undrafted and unsigned in 2013. Myers went to the Arena Football League the following year and had stints with Arizona and San Jose.“I was there just for a hot second,” Myers said. “It was good. It helped me keep kicking.”His big NFL break came in March 2015, when Jacksonville signed him to a free-agent deal. Five months later, the Jaguars traded Josh Scobee to Pittsburgh — making Myers their kicker. He led the league with 12 field-goal attempts of more than 50 yards, and for the most made with seven. His 80 percent touchback rate made him a reliable asset to Jacksonville’s special teams unit. But that all changed when he missed three long field goals in Week 6 last season against the Rams. He was released and had a few workouts with teams, but remained unemployed until Seattle signed him a few days after the regular season ended. He lost a camp competition in Seattle to Sebastian Janikowski and was again without an NFL gig for a few days until the Jets claimed him off waivers.Myers hopped on a red-eye flight to New Jersey, got off the plane, headed to the Jets’ facility and immediately linked up with Hennessy and punter Lachlan Edwards on the practice field. Myers proceeded to boot 20 consecutive field goals.“And he hit one from like 63 (yards) or something,” Hennessy recalled. “His focus was amazing, especially since there was so much going on at that point. It was impressive.”Two days after his first practice with the Jets Youth C.J. Mosley Jerseys , Myers was kicking for them in the team’s third preseason game — on his way to securing the job with New York.“If I would’ve sat back and thought about how fast everything moved that week, I think I probably would’ve not been able to do as well as I did,” he said. “I just kind of kept rolling and took it day by day.”And one kick at time. All the way to a spot in Jets history.“I’ve definitely taken the long road,” he said. “It was a little tougher, but it kind of helps me be who I am — mentally tough — and I don’t take all that stuff the wrong way. It just kind of helps build my character, who I am. I kind of use it as a positive and keep building off it.”Falcons at Jets First Half Thread The New York Jets will kick off their 2018 season with an exhibition matchup at home with the Atlanta Falcons. The last time the Jets played the Falcons in the preseason at MetLife Stadium, they won the game 30-22 and went on to win 10 games in the regular season. So, there’s that.Reports seem to be that Josh McCown will get an early series and the rest of the game will go to Teddy Bridgewater and Sam Darnold. It sounds a lot like last year’s rotation. Todd Bowles allowed Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg all the playing time in the world to seize the starting spot. Neither took advantage. Will Darnold? He will absolutely get the same chances those two got, and then some.Anyway, here is your first half thread! Let’s all be nice to each other, and remember, no posting links to any illegal streams or websites!Football is back, everyone!

offensive line.NFL Media reports that the team plans to sign tackle Jared Veldheer later this week. Veldheer visited with the team last week.Veldheer spent the 2018 season with the Broncos and made 12 starts at right tackle. He was a starter with the Raiders and Cardinals before heading to Denver and has made 113 total starts while playing on both sides of the line over the course of his NFL career. The Patriots have Marcus Cannon back at right tackle and have designs on playing 2018 first-round pick Isaiah Wynn at left tackle. Wynn is returning from a torn Achilles White Ryan Allen Jerseys , though, and 2019 third-round pick Yodny Cajuste is recovering from quad surgery so it’s not hard to see the interest in an experienced option at the position.Waiting to sign Veldheer until after Tuesday would mean he does not factor into the compensatory draft pick process. A quick dive into the ins and outs of the deal signed by the Patriots’ newest WR acquisition."On Wednesday morning, insight was provided by ESPN’s Mike Reiss regarding the structure of Dontrelle Inman’s one-year deal with the Patriots. If the 30-year-old wideout is cut before week one, the team would gain $968,750 in gross cap space this season, with $400,000 in dead money. If Inman were to sign with another club in 2019, New England would earn a credit on their 2020 adjusted team cap for every dollar he earned with the new team, up to $100,000.The possibility of earning up to $2.5 million in 2019 is a nice opportunity for a player who scratched out a five-year NFL career after going undrafted out of Virginia in 2011, spending two seasons in the Canadian Football League, and earning just over $5 million with three NFL clubs since 2014.After being signed by the Indianapolis Colts halfway through October of last season James Develin Jerseys 2019 , Inman emerged as the number-two option down the stretch for Andrew Luck, tallying at least four receptions in five of the final eight regular season games in which he was active, and catching all eight of his targets for 108 yards and a score in the team’s two playoff contests. He isn’t a burner, but his solid routes, body control, and sticky hands popped on tape in 2018, which created some competition for his services on the post-compensatory pick free agent market this month — as demonstrated by the $400,000 in guarantees he received in Foxborough. With Demaryius Thomas’s health status in question for the start of the regular season and rookie N’Keal Harry getting accustomed to life in the NFL, Inman has a serious opportunity to make some headway on New England’s wide receiver depth chart this summer.Follow Brian Phillips on Twitter — @BPhillips_SB

The trade sending Antonio Brown to the Raiders isn’t official yet, but an agreement is in place for the wideout to land with a new team and sign a new contract when he gets there.Brown’s desire for a new contract that would make him the league’s highest-paid receiver was seen as the biggest obstacle to a deal with the Bills that was in play late last week. During a Sunday appearance on NFL Network, Brown’s agent Drew Rosenhaus said the Bills “decided it wasn’t a great fit for them” while talking to the Steelers and that the decision not to move forward didn’t come down to his client.“You know what, I don’t know that there was ever an option for us White Jim Kelly Jerseys , quite frankly,” Rosenhaus said. “We never got in that position. It really wasn’t something that was up to us to decide. I don’t think the Steelers and the Bills were able to work something out.”Rosenhaus said Brown was happy about the “fresh start” he’s getting with the Raiders and cited head coach Jon Gruden and quarterback Derek Carr as reasons why he’s looking forward to the move. The $30 million in guaranteed money probably doesn’t hurt too much either.

CLEVELAND (AP) — Apparently Trevon Coley Color Rush Jersey , beating Hue Jackson on the field wasn’t enough for Baker Mayfield.A day after throwing four touchdown passes in a 35-20 win over Cincinnati and then rejecting a postgame hug from his former coach, Mayfield called Jackson “fake” as the Browns rookie quarterback fended off criticism of his behavior.Mayfield was upset with comments made about him by ESPN’s Damien Woody, who said the QB was acting childish and hypocritical for saying Jackson should not have joined the Bengals‘ staff after he was fired last month in Cleveland.“Baker Mayfield needs to grow up,” said Woody, who played in the NFL for eight years. “This is pro football, you’re dealing with grown men. What I found funny about this whole thing, Baker Mayfield, didn’t he go from Texas Tech to Oklahoma? Two teams in the Big 12. You went from one rival to another in the same conference.”Mayfield walked on at Texas Tech before transferring. He shot back at Woody with an Instagram comment, saying the announcer’s take was “not even comparable” and then took another crack at Jackson.“I didn’t lose 30 games be fake and then do that . I wasn’t gonna have a scholarship. Good try though buddy.”Following Sunday’s game, Mayfield, who began the season as Tyrod Taylor’s backup before an injury moved him into the starting lineup https://www.brownsfanshop.com/Duke-Johnson-Jersey , said he didn’t feel the need to interact with Jackson. The pair did shake hands.“I didn’t feel like talking,” Mayfield said, adding he was motivated by Jackson leaving for the Bengals. “Left Cleveland, goes down to Cincinnati, I don’t know. It’s just somebody that was in our locker room, asking for us to play for him, and then goes to a different team we play twice a year.”Jackson went 3-36-1 in two-plus seasons before he was fired by the Browns. He was always complimentary of Mayfield, who never complained — at least publicly — about beginning his NFL career in a backup role. While interim Browns coach Gregg Williams refused Monday to discuss whether his players were motivated by Jackson, Mayfield is certain to be asked about it Wednesday when the Browns return to practice.Cleveland hosts Cincinnati on Dec. 23. I get that players have thick skin, but training camp especially is meant for fans to get excited about their team. Fortunately, Jeff Ridson later noted that the fan shut up after about ten minutes.5. Drill of the Day: We have basically seen this drill already, but I got some slight amusement at WR Jarvis Landry ducking under the thing before the drill began. Can someone help me out, too — what name should I use to describe that piece of equipment they are running through?6. Mitchell Just Misses Pick: CB Terrance Mitchell was known for mixing it up last training camp with WR Jarvis Landry to make a name for himself. He’s had an up-and-down camp, but a play like this — nearly picking a pass by QB Baker Mayfield — is more of what we want to see (at least from the defensive side of things):7. Running the Ball: Per Zac Jackson of The Athletic E.J. Gaines Color Rush Jersey , the Browns’ first-team defense (even though it’s the backup defensive line) allowed three straight successful inside run plays to the offense. One of those plays is below, and head coach Freddie Kitchens wasn’t happy:8. Derrick Willies’ Highlight Play: The word from Berea is that we have a new “top play of training camp,” and it’s for the combination of QB Baker Mayfield to WR Derrick Willies. You don’t see a lot of super deep passes in 11-on-11 drills during training camp, but Mayfield let one loose and Willies made the one-hand snag for a touchdown as he was falling, despite close coverage from CB T.J. Carrie. Of course, he’ll get a lecture afterward about punting the ball, which is a 15-yard penalty.9. Brownies: RB Trayone Gray, DE Chad Thomas, and CB Phillip Gaines all returned to practice. ... C Austin Corbett took snaps at backup center. ... There was a brief squabble between RB D’Ernest Johnson and S Tigie Sankoh. ... WR Ishmael Hyman made some more catches with the second-team offense. ... RB Kareem Hunt continues to be eased back into practice. ... A total of 76 puppies have been adopted at the Browns Puppy Pound at training camp this year.10. Next Up: The Browns will practice on Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM.

in the fourth quarter of Thursday night’s game and their ensuing drive gave them a prime opportunity to tie the game. After a pass interference penalty on Eagles cornerback Avonte Maddox Rashan Gary Jersey , Green Bay had a first down on the Eagles’ 1-yard-line. They opted to throw the ball on the next four downs and all four passes fell incomplete, which left the score unchanged and left Packers head coach Matt LaFleur to say it was a “great question” to ask why the team didn’t try at least one run play to get the ball in the end zone.Outside of runs by Aaron Rodgers, the Packers managed 31 yards on 15 attempts and LaFleur’s answers about going pass-heavy focused on that lack of success as well as the impact of losing Jamaal Williams to an injury early in the game. LaFleur also noted that having Rodgers played a role in his thinking.“When you have one of the greatest quarterbacks ever, you trust him to continually gain yards and get down the field. We were able to accomplish a lot of what we wanted to do,” LaFleur said, via PackersNews.com.They couldn’t accomplish all of what they wanted to do and they ultimately wound up with their first loss of the season as a result. Over the next few days leading up to this year’s draft, Acme Packing Company will examine the Packers’ history at each current slot for 2019, as well as run down the names of recent picks around the league at the position. The Packers have made the 30th selection in the NFL Draft four times, the same number of picks that they have made at 12th overall. However Dexter Williams Jersey , while the team found a Hall of Famer at 12, they have had much less success at 30. In fact, the Packers’ four draft picks at that slot played a combine seven seasons for the franchise, and the most recent pick had a significant flame-out with the coaching staff before being dealt away before his rookie contract expired.Packers History at 301950: Gordie Soltau, EThe first of those picks was end Gordie Soltau from Minnesota. However, Soltau never played for the Packers, instead ending up in San Francisco. He made three Pro Bowls and one All-Pro team there. He amassed 3,487 receiving yards and 25 touchdowns and also contributed as the team’s kicker for most of his career, making 42 of 70 field goal attempts and 284 of 303 PATs.1966: Tom Cichowski, OTThe team’s next 30th pick also never played for Green Bay. They drafted offensive tackle Tom Cichowski in 1966, but he played for the AFL’s Denver Broncos for two years before his career came to a close.1997: Ross Verba, OLThe next two picks will be much more memorable for younger Packers fans. Ron Wolf selected Iowa offensive lineman Ross Verba at #30 in 1997, making him the team’s first selection after winning Super Bowl XXXI. He played left tackle and left guard in Green Bay for four years before heading to Cleveland as a free agent in 2001.2015: Damarious Randall Vince Biegel Color Rush Jersey , CBFinally, the most recent pick at 30 is a painful one, as Ted Thompson made Arizona State defensive back Damarious Randall the choice in 2015. Randall, a college safety and slot defender, was asked to play cornerback in Green Bay before being unceremoniously traded to the Browns during the 2018 offseason for quarterback DeShone Kizer. Randall famously got himself benched after a sideline tirade, leading to the team’s player leadership council requesting that the team release him outright midway through the 2017 season.Randall has recorded at least three interceptions in each of his four NFL seasons, with two-pick sixes (both before his trade from Green Bay).Recent History at #302018: Mike Hughes, CB, UCF (Vikings)2017: T.J. On the field, Stanford linebacker Bobby Okereke has earned a reputation for his rare speed at the position. That speed played an important role in allowing him to lead the Cardinals in tackles in his senior season. It also helped him excel in short-zone coverage, an area the Colts are looking to improve. One of the things that separates him from other players at his position is his intelligence and football IQ. He does an excellent job of getting a read on plays early and getting himself into position to disrupt backs, receivers Antonio Morrison Jersey , and quarterbacks. If a rangy, speedy, linebacker with the ability to make plays sounds familiar, it should come as little surprise that one of the primary player comparisons for Okereke is Colts All-Pro linebacker Darius Leonard. Imagine if Okereke can develop into a player who can be anywhere close to Leonard in terms of on-field production. It would put the Colts linebacker position at or near the top of the league. While the ability to excel on the field must take precedent for NFL front offices and scouting departments, Chris Ballard has been placing a premium on the mental and character aspects of future Colts players. Okereke’s parents immigrated from Nigeria, hoping to give their family a chance to receive a world class education and an opportunity to live the American Dream. Their son just graduated with a degree from Stanford University, one of the most well-respected educational institutions in the world. Okereke started playing football his freshman year in high school and did so well that he was recruited to play for a major program at Stanford. He used each season, including a redshirt year Kenny Moore Color Rush Jersey , to improve his game. He grew quickly from special teams contributor to defensive role-player to the team’s leading tackler. One can’t help but come away impressed with Okereke after listening to him tell his story and respond to interview questions. He is well-spoken, clearly intelligent, and it’s one writer’s opinion that he will quickly become good buddies with fellow Stanford graduate Andrew Luck. Quenton Nelson is also likely to call him a nerd.Take a look at Okereke’s Stanford Story and an interview with him after his final regular season game against Cal. He is a tremendous ambassador for himself, his family, and his team. It’s exciting to think about what Chris Ballard is building in the Colts locker room.

behind Russell Wilson for the last several seasons. Once Tarvaris Jackson’s three-year run as Wilson’s backup came to an end following the 2015 season Alex McGough Color Rush Jersey , the Seahawks have had a different backup every year since. That run will continue this fall as either Geno Smith or Paxton Lynch, presumably, will take over the job.Smith and Lynch are expected to complete for the job throughout the preseason with the Seahawks doing their best to give the pair equal opportunities to show what they can do.“I like the competition,” head coach Pete Carroll said on the final day of mini-camp last week. “Today we just let those two guys go at it and kept Russ out for the most part. As of yesterday, I think they both had exactly the same number of pass attempts.“it’s just going to be a wide open competition and what we need to do is a really good job of giving them an equitable shot at it with reps, the people they work with and all that kind of stuff and that will be a big plan. It reminds me of when Russ was coming up in his first year. We had the whole thing mapped out. I don’t think that they’re going to catch Russ, but you know, you never know. That’s what competition is all about. Their reps in particular are really going to be monitored strictly to see that we can get a great gauge. Let the games begin.”Trevone Boykin, Austin Davis and Brett Hundley have each spent a season as Wilson’s break-in-case-of-emergency option off the bench. Wilson’s only really come close to needing an injury replacement in 2016 when a high-ankle sprain and MCL sprain threatened to take him out of the lineup.Lynch is getting a second chance in Seattle after the former first round pick of the Denver Broncos flamed out after just two years with the team. Smith is on his third new team in as many years after stops with the New York Giants and Los Angeles Chargers.“Paxton’s got a big time, live arm. He really does,” offensive coordinator Brian Schottenehimer said. “For a big guy, he’s really quick and athletic, picked up the system well. Geno hasn’t been here nearly as long. He’s got a lot of moxie about him Byron Maxwell Color Rush Jersey , great huddle command which is cool to see.”Special teams coordinator Brian Schneider had described earlier in the offseason how the team charted every kick made by Sebastian Janikowski and Jason Myers throughout the offseason last year before settling on Janikowski as their choice for last year. The quarterback battle between Smith and Lynch is likely on a similar path with preseason games being a vital bench mark for both players.“We’re getting a good gauge on them but we’re going to have to get to these games,” Carroll said. “The games are going to be really important. The first half of preseason for those guys is crucial for their competitive opportunity. And game three, we’ll wind down Russ and get some more work in that game. So game one and two are really big for those guys and game four will be a big deal for them too. We just let it go.“We’re really happy with the way they’ve progressed. They’re applying the meeting room stuff well on the field. They’re handling it. You can tell Geno has played a little more. He’s been around more. Both guys have the big arm and they can make all the throws that we’re asking in the offense and they both move well too. So it’s just going to be a wide open competition and what we need to do is a really good job of giving them an equitable shot at it with reps, the people they work with and all that kind of stuff and that will be a big plan.” This week on Seaside Chats, I spoke to comedian, actor, improviser, and lifelong Kansas City Chiefs fan Ryan Meharry about the current state of his team. "Entering the day with five scheduled selections Youth Jacob Bailey Jersey , Friday’s second and third draft rounds turned into a busy affair for the New England Patriots. The reigning world champions picked four players and made three trades, and when all was said and done had added the following men to their roster:Let’s take a closer look at how the second day of the draft went for New England:Patriots draft CB Joejuan Williams: 2-45After an early run on defensive backs to start the second round, the Patriots decided to invest two draft picks — the 56th and the 101st selection — in order to move up the board. New England then invested in Vanderbilt’s Joejuan Williams at 45, securing a tall and physical press-cornerback capable of defending the boundary and helping against bigger targets in the passing game. One thing is certain: his acquisition adds further intrigue to an already deep defensive backfield.Patriots trade 2-64 to the Seahawks for 3-77 and 4-118After trading up to get Williams with the 45th overall selection, the Patriots decided to trade down from their 64th pick — despite plenty of players to address potential needs still being on the board. New England, however, felt that a trade presented the better value and received two selections from the Seahawks. Seattle, meanwhile, invested pick number 64 in wide receiver D.K. Metcalf.Patriots trade 3-73 and 6-205 to the Bears for 3-87, 5-172 and a 2020 4th round pickNine picks after trading down for the first time, the Patriots again opted to move down the board when they sent the 73rd overall selection and a sixth-round compensatory pick to the Chicago Bears. In return, New England received three draft choices: a third-round and a fifth-round pick this year as well as a fourth-rounder in 2020. Chicago invested the highest of the selections involved in running back David Montgomery.Patriots draft DE Chase Winovich: 3-77New England drafted its third player with one of the two picks originally acquired through the trade-down with the Seahawks: at 77 overall, the Patriots brought Michigan’s Chase Winovich on board. An outstanding athlete that had tremendous production in college, the 24-year-old will get a chance to carve out a role on his new team’s defensive edge rotation. Playing alongside Michael Bennett, Deatrich Wise Jr. and John Simon Womens Jacob Bailey Jersey , Winovich gives the Patriots depth and a young developmental option.Patriots draft RB Damien Harris: 3-87After adding to what is already the deepest position on defense — cornerback — in round two, New England picked a player for the deepest position on offense in round three: Alabama’s Damien Harris was made the 87th overall pick of the draft and will join a talented running back corps led by Sony Michel, James White and Rex Burkhead. Given his nature as a versatile downhill runner, Harris will likely join the rotation as the 1B option alongside Michel on early downs and short-yardage situations.Patriots trade 3-97 and 5-162 to the Rams for 3-101 and 4-133New England was not done trading, and also opted to move out of the 97th spot. The club sent the pick, which later turned into offensive tackle Bobby Evans, to the Los Angeles Rams alongside the previously acquired 162nd selection. In return, the Patriots received the 101st overall pick and a fourth-rounder. All in all, a good move for the club.Patriots draft Yodny Cajuste: 3-101With the second-to-last pick of the day, the Patriots again drafted a player: West Virginia offensive tackle Yodny Cajuste. Addressing a major need, Cajuste will serve as the third tackle alongside presumed starters Isaiah Wynn and Marcus Cannon. A developmental option, he could fill the backup swing tackle role previously held by LaAdrian Waddle — and maybe even take over for Cannon one day. 鈥媁ith 1:50 left in a snowy game in Foxboro on January 19th 2002, one franchise was changed forever. Everyone knows that the Patriots benefited greatly from the “Tuck Rule,” but may there be a team besides the Raiders that missed a great opportunity? Sitting in my usual seat in the north end zone, I watched Brady drop back to pass Authentic Jacob Bailey Jersey , I saw Woodson coming from behind, and I saw Greg Biekert fall on the ball just before Jermaine Wiggins could get there. The unbelievable run that the Patriots were on was finally over. Then someone amazing happened, the call was reversed. It was an unreal moment, but as we approach the first game against Buffalo this season, I started to think about what would have happened if the play had never been reversed, and how both teams playing this Monday night may be drastically different if it did not. 鈥婤efore we talk about what would have happened if it wasn’t overturned, let’s look at some possible scenarios as to why.First there is the obvious one that Walt Coleman could have decided that it was a fumble and the Tuck Rule would not have been enforced, but this seems unlikely, because he has come out and said that it was an “obvious” call. So what if the play happened a few plays earlier, before the two minute warning? The Patriots were out of timeouts and would not have been able to challenge the play, and since it was called a fumble on the field, the Raiders would have been able to kill the rest of the clock, and send the Patriots packing. What if the music crew had not blasted “In The Air Tonight” by Phil Collins while Coleman was reviewing the play? I may not be able to prove that it made a difference, but something started happening when that song came on, I felt it Jacob Bailey Jersey Boys , and I would be willing to bet that anyone there that night would tell you the same thing. So what if any of these three things were different on the night of January 19th? Clearly the Patriots would not have won their first Super Bowl against the Rams, but would there have been bigger consequences?鈥婽he quarterback controversy had been brewing since Drew Bledsoe had come back to the team from the vicious hit that Mo Lewis inflicted in Week 2. I know that is hard to believe now, but people were split on who should start the Super Bowl after Brady went down in the AFC Championship and Bledsoe led them to a victory. So what if Bill had chosen wrong? What if he decided that he was going to go with the proven veteran over the young kid? What if the Patriots traded Brady to Buffalo instead of Bledsoe?I think that we can agree that both franchises would be very different now. Would Brady have led the Bills to the playoffs, something that Bledsoe, or any other quarterback before last year was able to do? Would Bledsoe have been able to lead the Patriots to wins in Super Bowls 38 and 39? Would the Patriots have won a Super Bowl at all? What about replacing Bledsoe? The Bills have had their challenges with quarterbacks. With Josh Allen still injured, the Bills are once again turning to Derek Anderson to start for them Monday night. Anderson is the 15th starting quarterback since the Bledsoe trade in 2002, if you count Matt Cassel, who played QB on the first play of the game with Taylor lined up at WR. They have drafted four quarterbacks in the first 3 rounds, E.J. Manuel, J.P. Losman, Trent Edwards, and Allen this year. But what about the Patriots? Had they traded Brady, they would’ve needed to replace Bledsoe eventually. They’ve actually taken quite a few quarterbacks that didn’t work out in the draft, but the obvious success of Jimmy Garoppolo, Jacoby Brissett Infant Kendarius Webster Jersey , and Matt Cassel could convince you they would’ve figured it out, but they’ve drafted some pretty bad quarterbacks since 2001. Think Kevin O’Connell and Ryan Mallet, both fourth round picks.鈥婲ow there is no telling what would have happened if Brady was in that deal instead of Bledsoe. Maybe he would have never succeeded under Gregg Williams, and with the curse that seems to be hanging over the Bills. Maybe Bledsoe would have been great, and Belichick would have molded him to his system, and then found a competent replacement for him when he retired. Or maybe the fortunes of these two franchises would be flipped, with the Bills being perennial winners of the AFC East, and the Patriots going through seven head coaches and being the last NFL team to make the playoffs this century. All I know is that, as a Patriots fan, I am happy we never had to find out.Pat is one of the hosts of the Patriot Nation Podcast Interact with him on Twitter @plane_pats

On Monday Jermaine Whitehead Jersey White , the potential door to Green Bay closed on Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. On Tuesday, McDaniels closed the door on leaving the Patriots, at least for this year. After a conference call with reporters during which McDaniels said he won’t interview with any other teams during the 2019 cycle, McDaniels confirmed to Phil Perry of NBCSportsBoston.com that McDaniels will indeed stay put. This year, McDaniels interviewed only with the Packers. The Browns reportedly were interested in McDaniels, and the interest reportedly was mutual. However, it appears that any interest will be going nowhere. (In theory, McDaniels presumably could have taken the Browns job without a formal interview; he previously interviewed for the job in 2014.)PFT reported over the weekend Womens David Bakhtiari Jersey , when McDaniels was still a viable candidate for the Green Bay job, that the Patriots were preparing for McDaniels to leave, either for Green Bay or Cleveland. The Patriots can now stop those preparations and focus exclusively on winning one or more (ideally, three) postseason games.McDaniels wouldn’t have interviewed for the Packers job (or any other job) unless he had real interest in taking the job. McDaniels declined an opportunity to interview with the Bengals. None of the other teams with vacancies formally pursued him. As the Green Bay Packers look toward the 2019 NFL Draft, they do so with a little more excitement than usual. With three picks in the top 45 selections and several positions of need, Green Bay has an opportunity to land instant contributors and long-term cornerstones next April. While the Packers figure to improve their depth at edge rusher with at least one of those picks, their need to improve the safety position truly revealed itself as the 2018 season wore on. And because of that, the name Johnathan Abram should be on Packers fans’ radars heading into pre-draft festivities. The 6’0 Kentrell Brice Jersey White , 215-pound Abram entered his senior season at Mississippi State as a potential mid-round draft pick. After a stellar year, he finds himself hovering in the area of rounds one and two depending on his athletic testing at the NFL Combine. The former junior college safety began his college career with the Georgia Bulldogs before finishing his final two years of eligibility with Mississippi’s version of the bulldogs. He brings that bulldog trait to the playing field.Described as a “throwback” safety, Abram’s game is passionate and relentless, attributes the Packers’ defense could benefit from. He brings a thump to any and all ballcarriers and learned to harness that physicality enough to better avoid personal foul penalties as a senior. Although his aggressiveness has led to blown coverages on occasion, notably a long touchdown pass against Iowa in the Outback Bowl, Abram improved greatly with experience. A major issue of the Packers’ deep half of the secondary was tackling this past season and Abram would shore up that area of weakness immediately as one of the draft’s best tacklers from the safety position. On top of his intensity, Abram has been a playmaker, totaling 14 tackles for a loss Womens Josh Jackson Jersey , five sacks, three forced fumbles, and two interceptions over his two seasons in Starkville. He was in position for several more interceptions in 2018, coming up just shy on a few occasions. But when the Bulldogs needed a third down stop or a sure tackle on a screen pass, Abram usually came through and showed the ability to shed through blockers on the outside. For a team like Green Bay, which tied for 29th in the NFL in takeaways in 2018, Abram’s ability to find the ball would be a welcome addition.Abram’s versatility may be of most significant interest to Green Bay. In recent seasons, the Packers have employed safeties at inside linebacker on passing downs to gain an advantage in coverage. His physicality would be a great fit in the box for the Packers Womens Clay Matthews Jersey , especially against tight ends. Green Bay could also line Abram up in the slot, where he has been a dangerous blitzer as a senior and held his own against top receivers. Against Alabama, Misssissippi State used Abram in the slot against Jerry Jeudy and he held the Crimson Tide’s standout to just six catches for 45 yards, his second-lowest output of the season. Abram’s ability to line up in man coverage in the slot and outside when needed, in addition to safety and potentially linebacker, would give the Packers the tremendous versatility they covet.Abram’s play in 2018 has made him a surefire pick in the draft’s first two days and many are beginning to take notice. While Abram still has coverage skills he needs to work on, a good showing at the Combine could vault him into late first-round consideration and the territory of Green Bay’s second pick of the round. A very vocal team player with leadership skills and experience in the SEC, Abram would bring a swagger to the game that the Packers need now more than ever. While he may not be the free roamer that the Packers must also address at safety Marcedes Lewis Jersey White , he is the kind of in-the-box safety that they hoped Josh Jones and Kentrell Brice would become.Green Bay could look many directions with its first-round selections, but Abram could fill several schematic positions as soon as next year and provide much-needed stability at safety for years to come.

EAGAN Laquon Treadwell Jersey , Minn. (AP) — Two years away from free agency, Adam Thielen was among the best bargains in the NFL.Facing a tight salary cap situation, the Minnesota Vikings could have waited to reward Thielen, their two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver who was tied for fourth in the league with 113 receptions last season.Waiting, and creating potential tension with team cornerstones, hasn’t been their approach. So the Vikings and Thielen agreed to a four-year, $64 million contract extension last week.“It shows what type of organization this is,” Thielen said this week as players began their first round of organized offseason workouts. “They’re not here to lowball people. They’re not here to take advantage of people. They want to reward the people that helped this football team win games and, ultimately, they want to win games. That’s probably one of the biggest reasons that I want to be here for a long time, because I want to win games. I guess it just shows what this organization is about and how they treat their players.”Thielen, the famously undrafted player from Division II Minnesota State who had the third-most receptions in franchise history last year, signed for an annual average of $16 million on his new deal that is the sixth highest among NFL wide receivers. He can earn as much as $73 million with incentives over the life of the contract covering the 2021-24 seasons. This was the latest move by Minnesota general manager Rick Spielman to maintain the foundation — mostly drafted-and-developed players — of a roster with a recharged Super Bowl aspiration. Thielen’s extension followed those given to wide receiver Stefon Diggs, defensive end Danielle Hunter and linebacker Eric Kendricks in the past year. The Vikings have thus created an environment, particularly on defense, built on remarkable continuity in a league that’s constantly turning over. The front office hasn’t shied away from extensions a year or more before free agency Womens Xavier Rhodes Jersey , and the players have shown a willingness to stay and forgo the chance to test an open market.“I feel like we just love playing with each other,” Kendricks said. “We know what kind of group we have. We have each other’s backs. I take a lot of trips with these guys in the offseason, and we just enjoy being together, working together. We know what we’re all chasing. I feel like it says a lot about what we’ve got.”Linebacker Anthony Barr was an outlier among recent high draft picks, in 2014, by the Vikings who hit free agency without an extension. He even agreed to join the New York Jets before reconsidering and staying where his heart was for a little less money.“I sent him a text like, ‘Hey, it’s going to be weird not playing with you,’ and he was like, ‘Just wait a second,'” said Kendricks, who has been a teammate of Barr’s since college at UCLA. “I’m like, ‘Oh, I see.’ Everything kind of played out how it did. Couldn’t be happier.”Barr’s decision even struck the typically stoic Harrison Smith. Speaking to reporters this week, the Pro Bowl safety choked up and acknowledged being surprised by the emotion he felt.“He’s one of my best friends,” said Smith Ben Gedeon Jersey , another high draft pick, in 2012, who never hit free agency. “Honestly, I wanted him to go get as much money as he could make. Pro sports, it’s how things happen. I obviously wanted him here, as well. So, I wasn’t going to be upset one way or the other. It’s an emotional game, and you make friendships, and you make plays together, and you’re pumped for the guy next to you. It’s why I play.”The feeling is mutual around the team’s facility.Tight end Kyle Rudolph said this week he’d be willing to restructure his contract to help the team’s salary cap situation and thus avoid being released. Defensive end Everson Griffen, the longest-tenured member of the team as a 2010 draft pick, already did that last month. Taking a pay cut was not his preference, of course, but the support he received from the team while taking a leave for mental health issues sure made it easier to stay.“They took care of me and they treated me like family,” Griffen said. “I’ve been here for 10 years. I’ve played good football for them, and I felt like they handled the situation that I was in perfectly. They took me under their wing. They made sure I had everything lined up http://www.thevikingslockerroom.com/authentic-mackensie-alexander-jersey , and it was a good thing. I just want to repay that. It’s always bigger than football.” NEW ORLEANS 鈥?The New Orleans Saints and former Minnesota Vikings interior offensive lineman Nick Easton have agreed on a four-year contract.More Vikings coverageMinnesota Vikings 2019 NFL draft capsulesVikings take fliers on CB Boyd, WR Mitchell, WR Johnson, LS Cutting in seventh roundVikings use sixth round to draft DT Watts, S Epps, OT UdohVikings draft USC linebacker Cameron Smith in fifth roundVikings trade up in fourth round, draft guard Dru SamiaEaston’s agent, Joe Linta, confirmed the deal on Twitter on Sunday night . "Good morning Le’Veon Bell Jersey Stitched , Gang Green Nation! I hope everyone’s having a great start to their day. It’s another dead zone for Jet articles today, and the monotony of the off-season has finally hit again. You know it’s bad when there’s a multitude of ‘reports’ regarding the Jets wishing the Knicks good luck for the NBA Draft, and news that the team picked up two cans for fodder (WR Xavier Ubosi and T Calvin Anderson) that the Patriots waived. I’m known to be a bit nefarious, but does anyone really think those two players will stick? Outside of that there’s some typical Maccagnan bashing Infant Blake Cashman Jersey , mostly in regards to his latest failure in Rashard Robinson that allowed some writers to re-open the can of worms that has been Big Mac’s tenure in NY. The Jets asked Vikings assistant General Manager George Paton to interview for their G.M. vacancy in 2013 and again in 2015, but Paton turned down the opportunity each time.Paton’s answer reportedly hasn’t changed in 2019.
